BEAUTY AND THE BEAST

SCRIPT (ADAPTED)

Scene 0

Narrator: Once upon a time, in a faraway land, a young prince lived in a shining castle. But the price
was selfish and unkind.
So, one night…
Fairy: My prince, please let me stay in your castle for only tonight for it is raining so hard and I am so cold
and hungry, in return I can give this rose to you…
Prince: NO! I don’t need your rose.
Fairy: You are so cruel! I will punish you for your cruelty and will make you a beast! You will just return into
your old self after you learned how to love wholeheartedly!

Scene 1

Narrator: One morning, Belle leaves her house and goes for a walk in the village.
Belle: Oh! What a beautiful day! Good morning everyone.
Gaston: (Pointing to Belle) She’s the one I’m going to marry.
Friend 1: (Rock Gaston’s shoulder) Ohh… It’s a good choice Gaston.
Gaston: (Going to Belle) Hello, Belle.
Belle: (Walking away from him) Good day Gaston.
Gaston: Let’s walk together.
Belle: Hemm… Maybe some other day, I will go to my father.
Gaston: HA HA HA, that crazy old man?
Belle: (While Maurice walks away) My father’s not crazy. He’s a genius!

SCENE 2.1
Narrator: Maurice, Belle´s father, said goodbye to Belle, put the things in the carriage and set off on his journey.

The snowstorm started to get stronger and he had to interrupt the trip. In the distance was a huge castle and he decide

Maurice: Hello? Hello? Is someone here? Please help… it’s snowing outside…
Beast: (Growling his words) Who are you! What are you doing here?
Maurice: (Very scared and backing way from the advancing beast) I was lost in the woods and…
Beast: (Snooting) You are not welcome here!
Maurice: I’m sorry…
Beast: (With a loud grow) AAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!
SCENE 2.2

Narrator: The horse frightened by the voice of the beast, retuned to the village and looked for Belle, she
was worried and went out in search of her father and found the huge.

Belle: What is this place? Papa are you here?

Maurice: Belle?
Belle: Oh Papa!
Maurice: How did you find me?
Belle: Who did this to you?
Maurice: No time to explain. You must go now!
Belle: I won’t leave you!

Narrator: The beast listens to Belle and stands in the dark and says to her:
Beast: (Growing) Who are you? What are you doing here?
Maurice: Run Belle!
Belle: Who are you?
Beast: I am the master of this castle.
Belle: I come for my father. Please let him out!
Beast: NO! He’s, my prisoner.
Belle: Take me! Let go off my father!
Beast: Okay, but you will stay here forever (The beast came out to the light)
Belle: (Was in shock)
Beast: Done! Old man, leave now! (The beast released the old man)

SCENE 3

Narrator: After the beast released Maurice, he ran back to the village to ask for help to rescue his
daughter from the beast.

Maurice: Help! Someone help me!

Gaston: Maurice?
Maurice: Please! Please, I need your help! The beast locked Belle.
Gaston: Who got Belle?
Maurice: A beast! A huge and ugly!
Lefou: Tell him that in exchange for your help you will marry his daughter.
Gaston: That’s a good idea
Gaston: So… If a help you I’ll marry your daughter Belle afterwards! HA HA HA!

Narrator: Meanwhile, in the castle, Belle was sadly locked in a room.

Chip: Mom, let’s go to see the girl! She must feel very bad!
Potts: Okay Chip, let’s offer her a meal.
Chip and Potts go to the Belle’s room
Potts: Cheer up, child and wear this gown…
Belle: That’s very kind of you, but I’m not going to dinner…
Potts: Oh, but you must! Beast is waiting for you.
Chip and Potts go downstairs with the Beast
Clock: What happened? Where is the girl?
Chip: She won’t come down for dinner.

Beast: (Snooting angrily) Where is Belle!?

Lumiere: She won’t come down sir.
Beast gets up angrily and throws the chair

Narrator: As time went by, Belle and the Beast began to spend more time together, so they forged a
connection.
Beast: (Gently) Belle, I want to thank you for showing me that love and kindness can truly transform a
person. You've brought light into my dark life, and I'm grateful for that.
Belle: (smiling) You don't have to thank me, Beast. I knew from the moment we met that there was
more to you than what met the eye. And I'm glad I was right.
Beast: (sincerely) I never thought I could feel this way again, Belle. But being with you has made me
realize that there's more to life than anger and bitterness. I want to be the best version of myself for you.
Belle: (touching his face) You already are, Beast. You're kind, brave, and generous. And I love you just
the way you are.

Narrator: The music swells, and their friend’s cheer. Lumiere and the Clock dance together, Mrs. Potts
sings a sweet melody. Belle and the Beast start dancing.
Potts: Oh, she so beautiful! They would make a great couple for sure!
Beast: (To Belle) Why are you sad?
Belle: I miss my father…
Lumier: Give him the magic mirror
Beast: (Looking for something in his pocket) This is a magic mirror, you can see anything you wish
to see here.
Belle: I’d like to see my father, please.
----------------------------------Belle sees through the mirror and see his father room--------------------------
Belle: Oh no! Papa is sick…
Beast: (Speak so sadly) Then you must go to him…
Belle: You mean… I’m free
Beast: Yes…
Belle: (Hold Beast hands) Oh… Thank you!
Potts: Beast? Where is Belle going?
Lumier: Why are you letting her go?
Beast: She will go home now. I let her go because I love her.
Fifi: But the curse is not over yet… She has to love you in return.

Narrator: Belle returns to the village and meets with her father.
Belle: Papa, I’m home, I missed you so much.
Maurice: How did you escape?
Belle: The beast let me go.
Maurice: That horrible beast?
Belle: But he’s different now.
Gaston: (Enters the room) Tsk, tsk, tsk, poor Belle, it’s a shame you are just like your crazy father.
Belle: We are not crazy Gaston!
Gaston: Marry me then!
Belle: Never!
Gaston: Your father talked about a horrible beast, but it is not real. That’s enough prove that he is
just a crazy old man.
Belle: The beast is actually real. He is not a horrible beast, he is kind, caring and I love him
Gaston: HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Belle: (To the magic mirror) Show me the beast
Gaston: (Gasp) The beast is real, I will kill it myself!
Friend 1: We will go with you and defeat him.
Friend 3: Anything to bring down the beast.
Friend 2: Who’s with us? If possible, we will burn the castle as well.
Belle: No!
Village: (Show support to Gaston and his friends)
Belle: No!

Narrator: Gaston, his friends and the village goes in search of the beast. Gaston arrives and enters
the castle.
Gaston: Where is the beast!? I will kill the beast!
Mr. Potts tells Beast of the upcoming horde. Beast looks at Gaston, then looks backdown in sadness again.
Gaston throws a spear and it strikes Beast in the shoulder.
Gaston: HAHAHAHA! Get up

Narrator: Belle enters the castle and goes in search of the Beast

Fifi: Be careful my little one.

Belle: (From the door) No! Stop!
Beast: Belle… augh. You came back.
Belle: Gaston please stop!
Gaston: Come on and fight me Beast!
--------------------------------They fight together until Gaston fall from the castle------------------------------

CLIMAX
Belle: (Crying) Beast! Please don’t die!
Beast: Belle!
Belle: No! Don’t die… I love you Beast!
The Beast stand up as a handsome prince
Prince: Belle, I’m alive!
Belle: Beast? It is really you!?
Prince: Mrs. Potts! We’re human again! (They hug each other)
Chip: Mom, I’m human again.
Potts: Yes my little one, the curse is over.
Lumier: (Holding Belle’s hands) Dear Belle, I thank you. Thanks to you and your love for the prince
we went back to the normality.
Clock: They make a beautiful couple! Long true love!
