ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
I would like to express my special thanks of gratitude to my
Biology teacher Mrs. SANGITA MOHAPATRA as well as our
Principal mam Mrs. SANGHAMITRA PANIGRAHI who gave
the golden opportunity to do this wonderful project on topic
“STUDY OF EFFECT OF ANTIBIOTIC ON MICROORGANISM’’
Which Also helped me to doing a lot of research work and I
came to Know so many new things. I am really thankful to them.

INTRODUCTION
Antibiotics are the organic secretion produce by
microorganism which is low concentration are
antagonistic to the growth of other microorganism.
antibiotic have proved very useful in combating
several bacteria diseases in man and animal.
Antibiotics are commonly obtained from
Actinomycetes and some Eubacteria . Some of the
important antibiotic are streptomycin,Teramycin,
chloromycitin, neomycin, etc.
OBJECTIVE OF PROJECT
The aim of the project is to study of effect of antibiotic
on microorganism
EXPERIMENT
REQUIRMENTS
PROCEDURE
A. Preparation of culture medium
1. Potato dextrose agar (PDA) medium. Given 200 g of
peeled potato chips. Boil them into 500ml of water in
a beaker of water in a beaker for 15 minutes.
Squeeze the potato pulp thus obtained through a
muslin cloth and keep it in a flask. Take 20g of agar
in a beaker and warm it with 500ml of water. Mix
both the solution potato and agar and Add 20g
dextrose to it. Thus 1 liter of PDA solution is
prepare. Autoclave the medium at 15 pounds
pressure for 15 minutes.
B. Effect of antibiotic on soil microorganism
1. Given 2g of soil and dissolve it in 10 ml of water in a
beaker let the soil particle settle down.
2. Taking 5 oven sterilized petridish and pour 1 ml of
soil suspension on each plates now pour 1 ml of the
flour antibiotic with the help of syring and mark them
with marker pen leave the fifth petridish without
antibiotic to serve as control .
3. Our PDA in each of the petridishes and mix the
suspension by rotating the petridish. Leave the
petridish undisturbed in a warm place.
OBSERVATION
Colonies of microorganism appear on the culture
medium count the colonies in each petridishes the
present are in table.
CONCLUSION
Penicillin and terramycin was most effective antibiotic
against Microorganism in soil.
