Self-Reflection

Identify any mindful changes you made to your diet this week to improve your health.

Some changes that I’ve been trying to make to my diet would be trying to increase the amount of

protein that I eat throughout the day by drinking a protein shake each day. I did this mainly

because I’ve been trying to spend more time at the gym and thought that this may help me with

improving myself and my body. Other changes that I’ve been trying to make would be trying to

replace some of the snacks that I eat throughout the day with healthier options such as by eating

more fruits when I get cravings or eating dried apple chips rather than the usual potato chips that

I would be eating. For now, these changes haven’t been that difficult as I am still able to satisfy

my crazings; however, I am worried about how long I can keep up with this. In general, though I

don’t feel like I need to make many changes to my actual diet as I always try to eat some sort of

green vegetable with each meal and have some fruits each day.

Identify any mindful changes you made to your sleep pattern this week to improve your health.

Some changes that I’ve been trying to get into when it comes to my sleep patterns would be

slowly going to sleep earlier and letting myself sleep longer whenever I can. Since classes tend

to be earlier in the morning and just in general it's supposed to be good to get up earlier so I'm

attempting to improve on this aspect. Other changes I am trying to do would be trying to stop

using electronics an hour before I feel like I should go to sleep as I always hear that this is a good

change. Furthermore, I’ve been trying to get into reading more often and this change has

somewhat aided in this desire so it has been that hard to do. Some other general changes that I’ve

been trying to implement would be trying to drink less caffeine daily as I’ve been drinking a lot

more now since the start of school.

What new physical, emotional, spiritual activities did you participate in this week?

Some new activities that I’ve been trying to participate in this week would be jogging around the

neighborhood most days when I can. Usually, I would have just used the treadmill or gone to the

gym but now that it has become much cooler outside, I decided to rather do my exercise outside.

Some other activities that I’ve been trying to do would be getting into playing and relearning the

guitar again as it's been a long time since I’ve felt the desire to do so. I did this mostly because I

felt like it would be a waste to just forget how to use one and because I thought it might be a fun

way to relieve stress. Another activity that I’ve been trying to get into would be reading more

often which has so far been going well as I’ve found some books that I’ve been enjoying reading

and gotten plenty of recommendations.

Were these changes easy or difficult to incorporate into your life? Why?

In general, I feel like most of my changes have been easy to incorporate into my life. I feel like

this is the case since, for the most part, most of the changes that I’ve been trying to make to my

life have been decently easy and minimal changes to my day or how I would operate which made

it pretty easy to incorporate. Things like drinking a protein shake each day or changing where I

would get my cardio at are not the most difficult to change which made it easier to incorporate

into my life. Although some of them like the sleep schedule and snack alternatives may become

harder to incorporate later on as it depends on my motivation. Although these are both still not

much of a difficult change to make, I’m more worried about how long I can actually stay

committed to these changes.

Do you feel that you can continue any of these self-care changes into your routine moving

forward?
As of right now I feel like I can continue to maintain most of the self-care changes that I’m

trying to make to my routine as for the most part most of them are small and simple changes.

Since this is the case I generally feel and have no issues with keeping these changes as they have

barely changed my daily routine but should improve my life in general. Some of these easy

changes that I will be able to keep would be trying to read more often and drinking a protein

shake each day as both of these changes I enjoy doing so far. However, even though I feel like I

can maintain these self-care changes some of these changes like the snack changes and sleep

schedule changes I am worried about whether I will be able to continue to maintain these

changes. Although they aren’t that hard to do my largest worry about these changes is whether I

will be able to maintain my motivation for these changes as they are easy to break and would be

very tempting to stop.
