Generic Name: 50 mg IVTT Relief of moderate to moderately Binds to mu-opiod receptors Contraindicated with Constipation; nausea and
Tramadol severe pain. Relief of moderate to and inhibits the reuptake of allergy to tramadol or vomiting; stomach pain; 1. Assess patient before
severe chronic pain in adults who norepinephrine and serotonin; opiods or acute dizziness; drowsiness; therapy and regularly
need around-the-clock treatment causes many effects similar to intoxication with tiredness; headache; and thereafter.
Brand Name: for extended periods. the opiods- dizziness, alcohol opiods, itching. (Student’s Drug
Conzip somnolence, nausea, psychoactive drugs. Handbook, 2009:
constipation- but does not have 10)
Pharmacologic Class: the respiratory depressant 2. Assess patient signs for
Opioids effects. symptoms of pain and
discomfort.
Therapeutic Class: 3. Check patient’s allergy
Narcotic analgesic status and if he has
consumed alcohol.
4. Administer regular
tramadol with or
without food. Give as-
needed tramadol only
after pain assessment.
5. Discourage alcohol
intake or cannabis
consumption when on
tramadol.
6. Control environment
( temperature, lighting)
if sweating or CNS
effect occurs.

7. Instruct client the he
may experience the
following side effects:
dizziness, sedation,
drowsiness, impaired
visual acuity ( avoid
driving and tasks that
requires alertness)
nausea, lost of appetite
(lie quietly and eat
frequent small meals).
8. Instruct client to report
severe nausea,
dizziness, severe
constipation.
