MOTION

- The action or process of moving or changing place or position; movement

DISTANCE
- The total movement of an object without any regard to the direction

Δd=4m+3m+5m=12m

Formula:
Δd=d1+d2+dn…
n means to the nth value

The total distance traveled is equal to 22m because, Stickman traveled 10 m to the east then 3

🎉
m north then 4 m east then 3 m south then 2 m east, and when you sum it all up it will be 22 m.
Tada !
DISPLACEMENT
- Is the change in position of an object
- Is a vector quantity and has direction and magnitude
- Represented as an arrow that points from the starting or initial position to the final
position
Example:
If an object moves from position A to position B, then the object's position changes. This change
in position of an object is known as displacement.

Formula:
xo = initial position
xf = final position
Δx=xf-xo

Displacement in this scenario is simply the difference between its initial position and its final
position, which in this case is 0. (Reminder, only 0 displacement have no direction, when -1
or below or 1 or more keep in mind direction)
In this scenario, we used the pythagorean theorem to find the displacement, because we
need to and we can’t possibly calculate the displacement by subtracting 12 and 5.

Pythagorean theorem works here, because it is like solving for the hypotenuse of the triangle.
SE means South of East, which means the south of east.

In this scenario, stick man travels 12 m east then 5 m south, so like since east una niyang
direction yun yung main direction tapos south kasi pumunta south after ng east kaya South
of East or SE.

Formula for Speed:

S=D/T
“Speed equals Distance over Time”
The Speed of an object is traveling at is related to the distance it is covering in relation to
how it was traveling for(time).
Velocity
- Is the rate of change of displacement
- Is a vector quantity
- SI Unit is ms^-1 or m/s
Formula:
V = velocity
D = displacement
T = time
V= D/T

The speed average during the course of a motion is often computed using the following
formula:
Average Speed = (Distance Traveled) / (Time of Travel)

In contrast, the average velocity is computed using this formula:

Average Velocity = (DIsplacement) / (Time)

Concept Displacement, Time, and Average Velocity:
Concept Instantaneous Velocity:

Take Note:
● “Velocity” and “Speed” are used interchangeably in everyday language, but they have
distinct definitions in physics. We use the term speed to denote distance traveled divided
by time, neither an average or an instantaneous basis.
● Instantaneous speed, for which we use the symbol v with no subscripts, measures how
fast a particle is moving; Instantaneous velocity measures how fast and in what
direction it’s moving
● Instantaneous speed is the magnitude of instantaneous velocity and so can never be
negative.
