HUMAN HISTOLOGY
LABORATORY ACTIVITY #6: MUSCLE TISSUE
WORKSHEET
Lesson Objectives
At the end of the module, students should be able to:
1. Identify each muscle tissue and their parts
2. Analyze the differences between different muscle tissue types
3. Correlate the functions of the organs to their muscle tissue
The muscle tissue facilitates motion in the human body. It consists of contractile
proteins, namely, actin and myosin that make up its microstructure, the muscle fiber which is
the subunit of the muscle tissue and through a change in length of the muscle fibers, there is
contraction.
Distributed in specific organs with specific functions, muscle tissue of specific types are found.
These are the following: smooth muscle which is non-striated, automatic or involuntary, cardiac
muscle which is striated, and involuntary and both are controlled by the autonomic nervous
system, and lastly, skeletal muscle which is striated and voluntary, and controlled by the somatic
nervous system.
1. Draw the different types of specialized connective tissue and label their parts
