III. PROCEDURES TEACHER’S ACTIVITY STUDENTS’ ACTIVITY
A. ACTIVITY Good afternoon class, before we begin
our discussion, let us first have an
activity. This activity that you’re going
to do is called “PICTURE ME. Do you
have an idea of how to do it?

Nothing, Ma’am!

Okay to further understand this

activity,let us read the given
mechanics.
Mechanics:

The class will be divided into 4 groups,

and each group will draw from the box
held by the teacher that contains
situations. The group needs to portray
what they pulled out, using their bodies
to represent a scene or situation and
present it in front of the class. Each
group will choose a representative to
explain their output.

Do you understand it class? Yes, Ma’am.

Okay,You only have 3 minutes to

prepare and conceptualize with your
groupmates and your time start now. (GROUP PRESENTATION)

Thank you for your active participation,

Job well done class. So, those things
that you did have something to do with
our next topic.
B. ANALYSIS
So last time, Ma'am Kristine discussed
globalization, right? She also tackled
some of its effects on our community.
Remember?Now, what did you
understand by the word globalization,
Miss Luisa?
Ma'am, globalization is the changing of
the world in a modern way. Because of
this, we can do what we need to do in
our daily lives in the fastest way
possible.

Exactly! Globalization is the rapid flow

or movement of people, things,
information, and products in different
parts of the world. Just like Miss Melisa
said, everything becomes possible with
the help of globalization. For instance,
you can do your projects and
assignments more easily using modern
technologies, right?

Yes Ma’am

Because of this, the number and areas

in a certain area are growing as a result
of the migration of people to other
places. In your opinion, Miss Desiree,
what is the reason why there is
migration? Ma'am, this is happened because people
want to have a quality of life. So they
prefer to live in a modern area.

Correct, have you noticed that many

people from the provinces choose to
take risks in the cities because they
have more opportunities to get or avail
themselves here? For instance, Juana is
from the province. She has a large
family, and her salaries are not enough
to support her family's needs. So she
decided to leave Manila to look for a
better job. In this situation, this is
where urbanization happens. But before
we proceed to our topic, can you
please read first the objectives of our
lesson for today Mr. Carl Objectives
At the end of the lesson, the student
should be able to:
 Discuss the process and various
factors in considering urbanization;
 Create an infographic that
illustrate how the process of
urbanization affects the people and
the world; and
 Relate the process of urbanization
in shaping the future world.

As I said, the topic that we are going to

talk about is urbanization. Urbanization- A transformative process
in which peope migrates from rural to
urban areas and change the way they
use land, interact, and make a living.
Urbanization encompassess the process
by which population becomes
contentrated in urban area and the
corresponding changes in land use,
social interaction, economic activity,
and landscape
It is where the migration happens.
When we say migration, this is the
movement of people from one place to
another. Just like Juana, she looked for
a job, so she also needed to find a place
to live. Because he can't go home to the
province every day. How about you,
class? Have you ever moved to another
place or residence for some reason?
Yes Ma’am

To further understand what the

difference is between rural and urban,
let us differentiate between the two.
Rural areas are agricultural areas
because most of the work here is done
in the fields.

Whereas, urban is an area where there

is a large human population per square
kilometer.

New York

See, you can notice the difference of

these two by its physical
characteristics.
There are two factors in considering
urbnization, the push and pull factor.
Push factor is something that makes
people want to leave rural areas. This
happens because of the need for a
person to experience an abundant life
in another place. While pull factor is

the Push factor as well as check if you

contributes greatly to the development
of an area and even developed
countries. In your opinion, Miss
Xhandarra, what does urbanization
bring to other places or countries?
Over-urbanization- is a concept used
by urbanization and development
scholars to describe a situation in which
a country's urban population is
considerably larger than expected on
the basis of that country's level of
economic development.

Very good, Xhandara. Business owners

cannot display their businesses in areas
where the population is small because it
can lead to losses. However,
urbanization can also lead to some
problems. What do you think is not good
about it, Miss Bridget?

Precisely, if an area becomes

populated, others experience a lack of
opportunity. So we have something
called over-urbanization.

Informal settlers- is a broad concept

that refers to individuals and groups
who estab- lish their principal residence
in mostly urban areas and types of
dwellings considered illegal or in
discord with the dominant social norms.
Because of this, most of those who live
in cities or towns are missing out on
opportunities. For example, there are
many job seekers in the cities, but
unfortunately, not everyone can be Ma'am, the others just stay in the
catered to by a company or factory squatter areas or maybe on the roads.
because many of them have already
been hired here. This is where
demographic changes affect the
development of an area. For example,
due to the desire of people in rural
areas to move to urban areas, there is a
possibility that it will be difficult to
develop or enhance the area they left Ma'am, their health is affected because
behind because it lacks people. In urban they do not have proper hygiene and do
areas, due to the increase in the not know where they are staying.
fertility rate, there are chances that
there is no place for other people,
which can cause informal settlers.

For example, informal settlers who are

unemployed cannot afford to rent a
house to live in. What do you think
others are doing here? Ma'am, I think because there is so much
information that is gathered,
sometimes the information that is
Precisely because they want to have a spread in one place is false
place to stay, some of them are living
as squatters. Some of them are also
making shelter under the bridge. What
do you think, Miss Kaitlin, is the bad
side of staying in these places?

Right, these places are prone to

bacteria because of the lack of
restrooms. Sometimes some of them
throw their waste everywhere, which
can be a source of disease. Urbanization
can also lead to information
exploitation. Why? Because if a place is
overpopulated, that means more
information can be gathered from
different people. What could happen
here, Mr. Romnick?

This is also one of the reasons why

there is wrong information, or what we
call fake news. For example, we know
that if you are in the city, the lifestyle
that can be found here is more modern,
just like the use of social media. Most
people here believe the information
they read on Facebook without checking
if it is valid or reliable. Urbanization
indeed brings many good things to our
world, but we cannot deny that it also
brings problems to a place or area.
C. ABSTRACTION
Then, before we formally end our
discussion for today, let's have a short
activity to see if you are listening to the
topic that we discussed. We will call
this activity What's in the bag? The
chosen student will be drawn from the
bag, and he or she will give the
required answer here. Is that clear,
class?

Explain the process of urbanization

Ma’am, urbanization refers to the
population shift from rural to urban
areas, the corresponding decrease in
the proportion of people living in rural
areas. It is primarily the process by
which towns and cities are formed and
grow in size as more people begin to
live and work in urban areas.

Very good answer, next one is, give one

push factor that can affect the
urbanization and explain. (It depends on the student answer.)

Give one pull factor that can affect the

urbanization and explain. (It depends on the student answer.)

What do you think is the positive and

negative effect of an urbanization (It depends on the student answer.)
process?

Good job class, thank you for giving me

your answer and understanding
regarding to the topic that we
discussed. I hope that you can truly
understand it. From that, I’m sure that
you are all ready for our activity. Thank
you again for your active participation
and goodluck to your activity!
