Kelly bars
Selection of the extended length
The drill depth (BT) is not equal to the extended length (B) of the
Kelly bar. It is due to following parameters:
X: Height of construction for rotary drive incl. cardanic joint and

shock absorber on top of the rotary drive
Y: Length of the drilling tool
Z: Length of the casing drive adapter C
V: Height of the casing oscillator

• EMDE produced augers as robust welded

construction with high quality steel.
• In standard implementation helix edges are

armoured in order to increase wear
resistance. The edges can be protected by
spot welded carbide coated wearing strips.
• All drilling teeth and pilot augers are easy

to replace.
• Individual implementations, especially

client-specific ones could be made as well
as intermediate dimensions. Please use
therefore our specification-sheet.
• In case of drilling diameters > 900 mm we

recommend to use augers with double start
cutting edges.
• Auger suitable for cohesive, dry soil (e. g.

clay) available combined with flat teeth and
round shank bits.
