NEUTRAL POSITION CHECK

a. Operate the roll trims so the rig pins can be installed in the LH and RH trim bellcranks (Ref. Figure 203).

b. Place the LH and RH flaps to 10° or 30°.

c. Install a string from the point A to point B on each wing trailing edge (Ref. Figure 204).

d. Measure the mismatch (L1) between the trailing edge of each roll trim and the string line at the center position
of the roll trim trailing edge.

1. L1 shall be ± 0.04 in. (1 mm).

ROLL TRIM ADJUSTMENTS

When the results obtained in the ROLL TRIM TESTING do not meet requirements, adjusting/rigging should be
accomplished per the following procedures.

ROD ASSEMBLY IN NEUTRAL POSITION

a. Install the rig pin on the lever assembly inside the wing and adjust the rod assembly to make the deflection angle
neutral (Ref. Figure 205).

NEUTRAL SWITCH

a. Loosen the neutral switch lock nut and adjust switch to actuate when the deflection angle of roll trim is 0° (Rig
pin inserted) (Ref. Figure 205).

ACTUATOR ROD END ON FULL DEFLECTION ANGLE

a. Loosen the actuator's rod end and adjust the actuator stroke so the roll trim tabs deflect 25° ± 1° at both the UP
and DOWN positions (Ref. Figure 205).

b. Lockwire after adjustment and coat with black enamel after sealing with sealant (2, Chart 2, 27-00-00).

MODEL 400/400A MAINTENANCE MANUAL

ROLL TRIM TRANSMITTER FOR DN INDICATION

a. Position roll trim to full LWD (25° ± 1°). LH roll trim tab should be fully UP (Ref. Figure 206).

b. Rotate the axis of the LH roll trim transmitter and adjust the LH pointer of the roll trim position indicator to be on
the DN line.

c. Position roll trim to full RWD (25° ± 1°). RH roll trim tab should be fully UP.

d. Rotate the axis of the RH roll trim transmitter and adjust the RH pointer of the roll trim position indicator to be
on the DN line.

GAIN ADJUST POTENTIOMETER

The null point of this instrument is on the full DN line, not on the neutral line. Therefore, gain adjustment may be
performed on the full UP line. The indication, however, is required to be accurate at the neutral position. Neutral
indication should be within 1/2 needle and full up indication should be within 1 needle. Adjustment should be
performed on the N line (Ref. Figure 205 and 206).

a. Insert the rig pin and position the roll trim at the neutral position.

b. Adjust the potentiometer (LH - R139, RH - R074) on the relay panel in the center pedestal so the indicator
pointer indicates N line (neutral).

c. Operate the roll trim to full LWD and ensure that the RH pointer indicates UP line (within 1 needle). If not, adjust
R074 to bring the RH pointer to N position (neutral).

d. Operate roll trim to full RWD and ensure that the LH pointer indicates UP line (within 1 needle). If not, adjust
R139 to bring the LH pointer to N position (neutral).

NOTE: Repeat adjustment of the ROLL TRIM TRANSMITTER and GAIN ADJUST POTENTIOMETER, when the
potentiometer does not meet requirements.
