UNDERSTANDING THE SELF

TASK: List at least 10 things that you are grateful to have every day. Be creative in
doing your output. After doing so, answer the following questions on a separate sheet of
long bond paper.
Gratitude is a powerful and transformative emotion that has the ability to enrich
our lives in profound ways. It is understandable that life is not always rainbows and
butterflies, and may be just a fast-paced day loaded with tasks and activities. In spite of
that, being able to analyze and appreciate the things that you are grateful to have every
day could help in empowering and administrating oneself to development and self-
growth. Below is the list of the things that I am most grateful to have every day:
1. Gift of Life – It is something that holds an immeasurable worth that grants us the
opportunity to wake up, breathe, and experience the world around us.
2. Basic Necessities – Having access to these things is already a privilege that is
essential in our lives and is worth recognizing, also reminding us to be thankful for the
things that other people do not get to enjoy.
3. Education - The opportunity to learn and grow through education is a gift that keeps
on giving. Thus, giving us access to knowledge and opportunity to develop growth and
enlightenment.
4. Good Health - The foundation of a fulfilling life is good health for it enables us to
enjoy life and pursue our goals.
5. Freedom - Living a life that values every individual’s right will enable me to express
myself and make choices.
6. Time - Each new day that provides an opportunity for growth, change, and the pursuit
of happiness.
7. Family and Friends - People who provide me with unlimited support, companionship,
and happiness.
8. My Self – Will always be thankful for my own self for being true and brave enough to
face every challenge that needs to be conquered.
9. Achievements - My daily accomplishments, no matter how small, which contribute to
my sense of purpose and self-worth.
10. Planet Earth – I am grateful for our planet for letting us experience its valor and
resources.
Questions:
1. Does it give you any freedom and healing?
- The things that I’ve listed are things that indeed give me freedom and healing, allowing
myself to explore more and navigate my own decisions and judgments.
2. Do you consider sending notes to yourself like talking to yourself?
- Yes, I am highly considering things that would lead me to growth and development. I
believe that such actions as communication not just to other people but also to oneself
is essential to fulfilling self-understanding and enlightenment.
3. How do you feel expressing your feelings through writing them?
- In my past experiences, I observed that I am more confident and comfortable
expressing my feelings through writing or even expressing them through writing songs
and poems. It gives me a sense of deeper connection with my mind, thus making it
much easier for me to assess and express my feelings.
4. How is it to feel when you only write the things to thank for?
- Writing the things that I am thankful for is actually fulfilling, it makes me ponder and
appreciate of the things that I am enjoying and have access to.
5. Why do you only need to attract positivity in your notes and no divisive entries within?
- It is important to show and act optimistically about life to manifest attributes that would
greatly contribute in conquering challenges and dilemma towards life. It helps in
administering potential weaknesses and strengths, thus navigating oneself towards a
bold and bright future.
6. How is it to feel peace of mind?
- Being able to feel peace of mind is like sailing in calm seas, it makes your mind feel at
ease and contented of the things you already have and to be acquired. It is a sense that
helps you administer satisfying outcomes, due to its interplay with other attributes of
self-improvement.
7. Have you tried writing in your notes the things you’re good at?
- Sometimes it is hard to assess oneself on what really are the things that you are good
at, it is the major dilemma to face that burdens an individual, thus making it impossible
to address the things that you think are good at. Same goes for me, facing this type of
dilemma hinder me to go beyond and take note of the things that I think I am good at. It
actually revolves around the question “Am I really good at it or am I just capable”.
