I. OVERVIEW

There are 4 objectives:

1. Understanding about the operation of
button switch module and button debounce.
2. Understanding about the operation of four
switch module and practicing.
3. Using millis() and micros() function in
Arduino.
4. HOMEWORK
II. THE OPERATION
MODULES
1. BUTTON SWITCH MODULE
II. THE OPERATION
MODULES
• Features
▪ Three are three parts: the actuator, stationary
contacts, and the grooves.
▪ Type of Operation: Tactile Feedback.
▪ Operating Temperature Range: -20 degree to +70
degree C
▪ Power Rating: MAX 50mA, 24 VDC

2. FOUR TYPE OF SWITCH MODULE
• SHOCK SWITCH MODULE
II. THE OPERATION
MODULES
• Features
▪ Switch is open circuit OFF-state , when it is static, when external force to
touch and corresponding vibration, or movement speed achieve adequate
(partial) centrifugal force, conductive pick feet will produce instant conductivity
is instant ON-state, when external force disappear, switch back to open circuit
OFF-state.
▪ Switch life can reach 20,0000 cycles lifespan. The switches have trigger high
sensitivity.

MODULES
• KNOCK or TAP SWITCH MODULE
II. THE OPERATION
MODULES
• Features
▪ Knock or Tap Switch Module detects knocks and taps with momentary output.
▪ When the Sensor is "tapped" or "shocked" the normally HI Output Signal is
momentarily switched to Ground (LO).
▪ Depending on the amplitude of this "shock“, the signal typically has duration
of 50 to 250 micro-seconds. (Operating / Releasing Time ≤ 50 microseconds /
≤ 250 microseconds).

• Dimensions
▪ PCB Dimensions: 0.74" X 0.85"

MODULES
• MERCURY SWITCH MODULE
II. THE OPERATION
MODULES
• Features
▪ A mercury switch is an
electrical switch that opens
and closes a circuit when a
small amount of the liquid
metal mercury connects
metal electrodes to close the
circuit

• TILT SWITCH MODULE
II. THE OPERATION
MODULES
• Features
▪ Tilt sensors are devices that produce an
electrical signal that varies with an angular
movement.
▪ Sensors are used to measure slope and tilt
within a limited range of motion.

• Dimensions
▪ Length x Wide x Height: 8 mm x 4.5 mm x 3 mm

MODULE
II. THE OPERATION
MODULES
❑ Specifications
• The device is exposed to a magnetic field, the two ferrous materials
inside the switch pull together and the switch closes. When the
magnetic field is removed, the reeds separate and the switch opens.

II. THE OPERATION
MODULES
• Code – Analog pin
III. Practice
• millis() function:
▪ Returns the number of milliseconds. This number
will overflow (go back to zero), after approximately
50 days.

• micros() function:
▪ Returns the number of microseconds. This number
will overflow (go back to zero), after
approximately 70 minutes.

• Notes: There are 1,000 microseconds in a millisecond

and 1,000,000 microseconds in a second.
III. Practice
• DEBOUNCE
III. Practice
• Code
