strong emphasis on mutual care and consideration. Traditional games promote
benevolence by emphasizing principles of equity and inclusivity. These games are
typically enjoyed with friends and neighbors, fostering a sense of community and
nurturing kindness towards others. Academic Excellence: While not directly linked to
traditional games, the importance of excelling academically is often emphasized in
Filipino culture. Parents and elders encourage children to excel in both sports and
academics, imparting the value of maintaining a balanced and diligent approach to all
aspects of life.

Answer: Traditional Filipino games are vanishing, particularly among the youth in
urban areas, as modern entertainment dominates and the pandemic limits social
and outdoor activities.

● What certain experiences, problems, or questions do you have in relation to


what you see? (May be supported with a data or research if there is any or if
needed)

Answer: A major worry is the potential erosion of cultural heritage and identity
due to the decline of traditional games, which hold significant historical and
cultural importance. Addressing this decline through educational initiatives,
community engagement programs, and pandemic-related research on
revitalization strategies is crucial.

● Why is there a problem?

Answer: Traditional Filipino games are losing popularity, particularly among


younger generations, which could result in the erosion of cultural heritage and
outdoor traditions.

● What could be the cause and effect?

Answer: The cause of this decline can be attributed to several factors, including
the rise of digital entertainment, urbanization, and changing lifestyles. The effect
is a potential loss of cultural identity, physical activity, and social bonding that
these games once provided.

● How did you feel about the experience, situation, or problem? And why did you
feel that way?

Answer: Many who value these traditional games may experience nostalgia and
preservation concerns, feeling a strong cultural connection and worry about their
decline's impact on the next generation.

● What can we discover or realize?

Answer: Traditional games in the Philippines hold significant cultural value and
offer insights into Filipino heritage. These games, serve as a means of social
bonding, preserving heritage, and promoting physical activity. They are
adaptable, educational, and a source of cultural identity, often celebrated during
festivals. Modern adaptations and integration into education highlight their
relevance in today's world, while also attracting tourists interested in experiencing
authentic Filipino culture. In essence, these games are a treasured part of
Filipino identity, reminding us of the importance of preserving and celebrating our
cultural heritage.

Answer: To revert to our familiar games, as most young people are engrossed in
their gadgets and have little or no awareness of our heritage or roots.

● As an Organization, what will you commit as a response to what you have stated
in Part 2?

Answer: Through this initiative, Thomasians can discover and embrace our
traditional games, realizing that entertainment doesn't solely revolve around
gadgets, but also includes these timeless activities

III. OBJECTIVES

1. At the end of the program, Thomasians will be able to appreciate the cultural
significance and historical context of traditional Philippine games, fostering a
deeper connection to their heritage.

2. At the end of the program, Thomasians will be able to demonstrate proficiency


in playing a variety of traditional Philippine games, promoting physical activity
and healthy competition.

3. At the end of the program, Thomasians will be able to actively engage in


preserving and passing on knowledge of traditional Philippine games to future
generations, contributing to the preservation of cultural traditions.
