First Interview

The interview was conducted on October 30, 2023 with Mr. Joefaith Endam as
the interviewer and Mrs. Lowella Endam Miranda as the guest to be interviewed.
The topic of the interview revolved around the strengths of a teacher and how
he/she aligns such strengths in following the curriculum standard of the school as
an educator. The following questions where asked:

1. What are the three characteristics that you have as a curricularist that describe
you most as curriculum implementers?

2. Explain or describe each characteristic and how these characteristics help you
achieve and align all the competencies of the curriculum.

Towards these two questions, she first listed three clear characteristics which
are: good time management, second mastery of the subject matter or
competencies and third is being flexible. Mr. Joefaith Endam also repeated the
three to confirm and proceeded with the second question. When explaining the
relevance of these three characteristics. She emphasized their inter-relatedness.
She said that you need to have good time management because there are a lot of
competencies that need to be completed within one school year while also dealing
with hindrances. She added, you need to budget what you need to complete within
a quarter because even if there's the curriculum as a guide it's up to you how to
divide your time so that you can achieve each competency without compromising
the quality of the output or performance of the students. To relate, having mastery
of the subject matter is also important because without it, good time management
will be useless. Furthermore, having mastery of the subject matter/competencies
can save you the effort because you would be able to focus and simplify the lesson
on what the students need the most to learn while having fully utilized the use of
having the curriculum as a guide. Meanwhile, being flexible means you are able to
adapt to the environment or changes happening due to certain challenges. She
said that as as long as you have these three characteristics then you would be able
to complete the competencies effectively. This knowledge and wisdom were
gained through years of working as an educator. Now, it is passed on to the new
generation of educators. We can see here that curriculum will not be of any use if
we the future educators do not take in seriously the task that is handed on to us.
We do not only need to be good at comprehending the curriculum but also take on
the role as an effective implementor.

Second Interview

In the second interview, it was decided by the members to have Mr.

Christopher Bernard Saveron Benong as the guest to be interviewed. The
interview was conducted on November 3, 2023 within the CAS office of
Foundation University. The same questions were asked and Mr. Benong answered
" There are many things but normally, first thing is if you are an expert to that
field. Number one is if you are an expert or do you have a background on that
curriculum, for example, if you are an expert in science you cannot review a
curriculum in mathematics, that would be very hard… The next one is
Interpersonal skills, how you deal with the people around you. Because you're not
alone in doing it… you are a group so you need to deal with other people's
opinions, you need to deal with other people's advices, gather them all so you
need to have interpersonal skills… and lastly is you have the skill to seek what
really is your target in your curriculum because sometimes when you say
curriculum review it has a specific category that you need to achieve in short, you
need to have to be a critical thinker…". Mr. Benong further explained and
emphasized the importance of having the three, being an expert to the field of
competencies within the given curriculum, interpersonal skills and critical
thinking skills. He also mentioned that critical thinking skills is important
because there are any areas you need to tackle just for one curriculum. The
interview had been very fruitful and we were able to learn a lot from the
interview and hoped that everyone listening/watching would also be able to take
away the relevant points the guest being interviewed has given in order to further
their goals in their chosen field of study.
