Prototyping

It has been a great experience since I started The Lemelson Engineering Internship. I started seeing
my self as a great Engineer already haha, this first two weeks I learnt and practice many
engineering concepts.
Well, for a project to became a complete one there are some process to pass through until to rich a
final stage and through those process there is important one which is PROTOTYPE, actually there
three (3) types of Prototype which are Low Fidelity that uses paper, manila and other simple
material, Medium Fidelity that uses materials like hard wood, acrylic and lastly is High Fidelity
this can e taken to the market ready to be sold.
After we all being taught in detail about Prototype, we were grouped into group of two people and
each group were given a task to make a Moderate Prototype Fidelity, this was felt impossible to
make what we have been told to do within the submission time. Me and my partner were assigned
to make a small shelf which can hold twelve Voltmeter, so we make a box with 4 columns and 3
rows.
It was funny and challenging task because we were using a lot of Engineering tools especially
mechanical tools for making our design and also A Laser cutting machine which was a little bit
difficult to use as you know it was our first time. The Funniest thing is we manage to finish our
task at right time with accuracy and our prototype is already started to be used for storing the
Voltmeter.

Myself what I have learned is SPEED AND ACCURACY when doing Engineering design
activities. It was very interesting that we were all able to finish our task at a required time and with
fantastic prototype. So all of this is just the beginning of our beautiful Engineering lifestyle.
