Problem encounter :

In hostel,we face many problems using laptops, like we place laptop on our legs and after some time it get
heats up and cause burning problem and can cause processor problem.

 Problem solution:
We did brain storming and finally came up of with idea of making the laptop stands.

Project description:

Overview:
It is a stand used to place a laptop on it while running a heavy application. Laptop do get heat up so we
decided to make a stand. We made two laptop stands.

Purpose of stands:
Its main purpose is to hold laptop and different things like glass simple stationary equipment’s (pencil
pointer) and etc.

Apparatus:
1. Rip Saw
2. Tri Square
3. Rasp Cut File
4. Smooth File
5. Claw Hammer
6. Screw Driver
7. Iron nails(1”)
8. Steel Nail 6”
9. Bench Wise
10. Bench Drill
11. Tool Bit (7mm)
12. Tool Bit (2mm)
13. Glue
14. Marking Pen
15. Measuring Tape
16. Steel Rule
17. Liquid Paint
18. Paint Brush
19. Patrol
20. Soft wood

Safety Precautions:
Before starting the project, we followed the following precautionary measures:

1. Red instruction before using an instrument.

2. Nails should not be kept in pockets
3. We should be serious while working
4. Don’t play blame games
5. Donot wear lose clothes
6. Wear appropriate foot wear
7. Wear safety glasses
8. Wear gloves as well when painting and hammering
9. Clean vise and working area after use

Procedure:
1. First of all, we took a sheet from timber market from the scrap.
2. We did marking by using steel rule, divider, tri-square, pencil and different marking tools.
3. Then, we did cutting process by using saw according to our markings.
4. Then, we bench drill of 7mm to make a pattern of small holes on the sheet.
5. Then, we used bench vice and saw to cut a part in inclined manner.
6. Then, we used nails, glue and hammer to make joints.
7. Then we did dimensioning for second stand.
8. We cut the wood according to the dimensions. And made 4 drill holes of 7mm.
9. Then we took a two wood sticks and a mortise and tenon joint.
10. Then, we used different files for smoothness and finishing purposes.
11. Then, we bought paint and patrol and mixed them.
12. By using a brush, we painted our stands.

Cost Analysis:
Our first objective was not to exceed from pre-determined budget
1. Cost of wood Sheets = Rs. 50
2. Cost of Liquid Paint = Rs. 80
3. Cost of Paint Brush = Rs. 20
4. Glue and Nails were free of cost
Total Cost = Rs. 140

Pre-determined budget was Rs. 200, so we saved Rs.60.

Problems:
1. First of all, time was very short for us to complete our project. We have only a week to complete
our project. So, it was very difficult for us to complete it in time.
2. As wood is not available here. So we have to go to timber market to buy some wood for our
project.
3. The rates of wood are very high. The shopkeeper was demanding too much price. But we
managed to get a piece of wood in 300 rupees.
4. As our project involves cutting process. So, we faced a lot of problems in cutting.
5. As unabox is made of soft wood and it involves a large number of joints. A small mistake can
destroy the whole project. So we had to work very carefully to insert nails while making joints.
6. First we used big nails to make joints. But those nails damaged our wooden parts. Then we used
small nails to make joints.
7. It was very difficult to put nails in the inner part of the unabox. Then we used glu to make the
wooden pieces hold together.

Project timing:
Basically we were given one week for this project.

1. One our first day, we just bought wood from timber market.
2. On second day, we did marking on our sheet. We did cutting of marked sheet.
3. On fourth day, we did fitting of all the parts.
4. On fifth day, we did finishing of our job. We painted our job.

Conclusion:
After doing this project, we not only know about carpentry work but also know how to deal with different
peoples and team work.
