PROJECT YAKAP

“Yielding Alphabet Knowledge with Actions and Pictures”

TITLE: Enhancing Kindergarten Pupils’ Phonemic Awareness through (Y.A.K.A.P.)


Expected Goals/Outcome:

1. 5 out of 25 pupils with prior knowledge should be able to master phonemic awareness.
2. 20 out of 25 pupils with difficulty should be able to identify and familiarize phonemes.
Description: The PROJECT YAKAP is a series of reading interventions and strategies that is
designed to develop and enhance pupils' phonemic awareness with a series of innovations and
strategies that will be associated in action and pictures. It aims to enhance pupils' Phonological
awareness in a way that the pupils will enjoy through interactive activities. This project proposes to
offer a series of activities, intervention and strategies that will develop pupils alphabet knowledge.
This project emphasizes how effective pictures and movement affects the learning development in
teaching alphabet knowledge. Through this project it will hone pupils on to the environment they
deserve to have.

Target Participants: Kindergarten pupils

Duration: The intervention will be conducted thrice a week during Mondays, Wednesdays and
Fridays Thirty (30) minutes after class.
Materials: Manipulative materials that will represent different sounds of the letters.
