MY PERSONAL SUMMARY (Danna Andrade)

(50 POINTS)

Something I already knew: I already knew that the learning strategies refer to
all the tools, techniques and approaches that the learner uses to acquire,
memorize and understand the subject. It depends on the needs of the learner
and the type of material and practice it in the real context.

Something I didn't know: I didn’t know that the learning strategies are divided in
3 types: The metacognitive, cognitive and social affective. Each one focuses on
the needs of the learner.

Something I found interesting:The cognitive learning focuses on the mental

and physical aspect of the learner. In this style of learning the teacher can apply
them though mindmaps, visualization, reading comprehension, summaries,
imagery, detection, etc.

Something that seemed easy: The teacher can use some task to achieve the
increasing learning of his students such as: resourcing, making inferences,
elaborating to prior knowledge, detection, imagery, grouping, etc.

Something that is difficult for me: In metacognitive strategies it’s difficult for
me the way of evaluation the learner task and monitoring the learning and check
the language comprehension and production of my students.
MY CLASSMATE’S SUMMARY

NAME:David Chamba

(50 POINTS)

Something my classmate knew:

The definition of cognitive and metacognitive strategies in which one has to do

with physical and mental activities like reading comprehension, resourcing, etc. On
the other hand, metacognitive consists of thinking about thinking or learning to
learn.

Something my classmate didn't know:

The three variables in the metacognition: person variable, task variable, and the
strategy variable.

Something my classmate found interesting:

The planning of a metacognitive activity in which students describe what they

know, what they don't know, what they want to know, and so on

Something my classmate found easy:

The procedure to follow when applying metacognition in class which is the

planning, the monitoring and evaluating

Something my classmate found difficult:

The application of metacognition on students at different ages since this strategy is

not very suitable for younger learners as it is for older learners.
