Course Summary:
The course aims to give students a revelation of the different business activities. It covers
business, ideas, social responsibilities, moral values, ownership structure, and frequent
terminologies. Also, it deals with the vital elements of business such as - Accounting,
Business Economics, Finance, Human Resource Management, International Business,
Investment Management, Management, Management Information Systems, Marketing,
Operations and Supply Chain Management, and Tourism and Hospitality Management. The
intention is to give the learners an inclusive introduction to business through state-of-the-art
technology.

Course Objective:
The course provides an overview of the business world. Topics include the basic principles and
practices of contemporary business. Upon completion, students should demonstrate an
understanding of business concepts as a foundation for studying other business subjects.
‘Introduction to Business’ is designed to expose the interested student to many functions of
modern business. The lesson has been prepared to provide students a revelation of the different
forms of business activities. It covers the basics of business, including new ideas, social
responsibilities, moral values, terminologies, and ownership structure. In addition, it deals with
the vital elements of business such as Accounting, Business Economics, Finance, Human
Resource Management, International Business, Management, Management Information
Systems, Marketing, Operations and Supply Chain Management, and Tourism and Hospitality
Management. The course shows the student how these functions exist in a changing society and
the type of decisions that must be made within that environment. The course is also designed to
expose the student to the multitude of career fields in the areas of business. The importance of
business in modern society is also stressed throughout the course. The course is also designed

Course Learning Outcome (CLO): at the end of the Course, the Student will be able to-

To learn about the basic business concepts applied in the business operations,
understand the practices of different business entities, explore the diverse areas

ASSESSMENT PATTERN
Quizzes: Altogether, 4 quizzes may be taken during the semester, 2 quizzes will be taken for
the midterm, and 2 quizzes for the final term. For the mid-term and for the final term, both
quizzes will be counted. The quiz dates will be declared to the students in advance. No
makeup quizzes will be taken. Therefore, students are strongly recommended not to miss any
quizzes.
Assignments: Altogether, 4 Class Tasks will be given, 2 Tasks will be taken for the mid-term,
and 2 Tasks will be taken for the final term. All the Tasks will be taken into the computation
of the marks. No late submission of assignments will be accepted.
Presentation: Based on the final-term group-based tasks, the group members (5 members per
group) will be preparing the PowerPoint slide. The members will present their respective tasks
to the faculty member. The marks obtained will be evaluated based on the Rubric provided for
the Presentation.
Classroom Participation: All the students are encouraged to come to class prepared, take
part in the classroom discussion, make thoughtful contributions, participate actively in all
classroom activities.
