COURSE DESCRIPTION
This is an introductory course designed for all faculties intended to teach in the 1st year of different programs. The
expected audience for this course is students with limited or no prior exposure to the business. It is designed to build a
knowledge foundation in the key entrepreneurial subject areas. This course provides the fundamental concepts of
starting a business, the student’s motivation, skills, knowledge, and entrepreneurial orientation. The course also
prepares students for a career path as a startup founder or co-founder or business development with the intention to
grow in various industries of Pakistan.
COURSE OBJECTIVES (COs)
CLO2: Be able to assess the local business context and cultural dimensions
CLO4 Understand industry/market fit for the startup and demonstrate how to attract resources,
including funding for an identified opportunity.
CLO5 Examine the main characteristics of successful entrepreneurs and explore related career
roles.
CLO6 Learn the skills of critical thinking, team building within a new venture setting.
CLO7 Learn basic marketing and funding aspects and developing the elevator pitch.
PEO 2 Build managerial cognition of the students with a variety of planning, organizing, controlling,
leading, and communication skills necessary to effectively manage business and influence society.
Nurture problem analysis and decision-making skills in students, required to handle challenges
PEO 3 faced by the modern business world and equip them with quantitative and qualitative tools to
evaluate local and global business opportunities and successfully materialize new entrepreneurial
ventures.
PEO 4 Impart an awareness of the ethical considerations and social responsibilities to the students, in the
conduct of business.
PLO7 Take initiatives without hesitation and exhibit competitiveness in professional world.
PLO8 Be reactive, anticipative, adaptive and proactive towards entrepreneurial opportunities
in the contemporary business environment.
PLO9 Demonstrate awareness of domestic as well as global political, economic and
regulatory contexts of business in particular and society in general.
