Electromagnetic Field
Objective:

The objective of the paper is to propose a newly designed structure of 1kW-class inductive charger
operating at the high frequency of 20 kHz for electric vehicles, which addresses electromagnetic
compatibility issues caused by leakage magnetic fields in inductive charging technologies. The proposed
design is analyzed using the Finite Element Analysis (FEA) tool and the ferrite thickness and air gap
between primary and secondary coils of the inductive charger are determined considering core saturation
and EMF regulation.

Novelty:
The novelty of the paper is the proposed structure of the Handheld Resonant Magnetic Coupling Charger
(HH-RMCC) for electric vehicles, which addresses electromagnetic compatibility issues caused by
leakage magnetic fields in inductive charging technologies. The design of the HH-RMCC includes
determining the ferrite thickness and air gap between primary and secondary coils of the inductive
charger considering core saturation and EMF regulation. The proposed HH-RMCC has a high power
transfer efficiency and satisfies EMF regulations. The paper also utilizes Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
simulation to calculate the electrical characteristics of the winding for SPICE simulation.
