JAIME GARZÓN

1960-1999

Jaime Hernando Garzón Forero was a Colombian lawyer, pedagogue,

humorist, activist, actor, announcer, journalist and mediator of peace. His
entry into the national media would make him a well-know figure and the
pioneer of political humor on Colombian television. In addition to his work on
television, he also had roles as a peace negotiator in the release of FARC
guerrilla´s hostages.

Garzón believed in solving Colombia's problems and demonstrated it with his

daily commitment to the PNR and with the translation of the Constitution into
indigenous languages. Moreover, he has been a character who showed
another way of making humor, a conscious and critical humor that aimed to
sow the seeds of questioning in Colombians to seek a better country.
