1. Diurnal tides : Diurnal tides are tides that are characterized by 1x high tide and 1x
low tide in 1 day (24-hour period).

Semi diurnal tides : semi diurnal tides are tides that are characterized by 2x high tide
and 2x low tide in one day (12-hour period).

Mixed diurnal tides : mixed diurnal tides are tides that are characterized by the number
of high and low tides that do not occur the same number, it can be 1x high and 2x low tide or
2x high and 1x low tide with the characteristic that the height of the first high/low tide is
different from the height of the second high/low tide. However, it tends to have 1 high tide
and 1 low tide due to the diurnal mixed tides.
2. Neap tides are low tides caused by the configuration of the sun, earth and moon which from
90o(perpendicular). This configuration occurs characterized by the moon phases in the first
quarter and third quarter phases which occur on days 6-8 (2nd week) and on 21-23 (4th
week).

Spring tides are high tides caused by the configuration of the sun, earth, and moon which
form 180o (parallel). This configuration occurs characterized by the moon phases in the new
moon and full moon phases which occur at the beginning of the month (1st week) and on
days 13-15 (3rd week).

3. HHWL : Highest High-Water Level measured by determining the highest water level from
data observed over a period of 18,6 years.

MHWS : Mean High Water Spring measured by calculating and averaging high water level
data during spring tides observed over a period of 18,6 years.

MHWL : Mean High Water Level measured by calculating and averaging high water level
data observed over a period of 18,6 years.

MSL : Mean Sea Level measured by calculating and averaging water level data observed
over a period of 18,6 years.

MLWL : Mean Low Water Level measured by calculating and averaging low water level data
observed over a period of 18,6 years.
MLWS : Mean Low Water Spring measured by calculating and averaging low water level
data during spring tides observed over a period of 18,6 years.

LLWL : Lowest Low Water Level measured by determining the lowest water level from data
observed over a period of 18,6 years.

4. NO.4

Low tide
High tide

a. Based on the tidal chart the tide type is diurnal tide because the is 1 high and 1 low on 1
day.
b. Based on the tidal chart spring tide occurs on days 5 and 19, while neap tide occurs on
days 12 and 26.
c. In the diurnal tidal type as in the case above, flood current and ebb current occur once
each day.
d. The best time for a diver to conduct underwater exploration is during the transition
between high tide and low tide due to calm water conditions.
5. No.5

A. Semi diurnal tide

B. Mixed predominantly semi diurnal tide

C. Mixed predominantly diurnal tide
