Assignment #2
Electrical Communication
Electrical Communication can be defined as the way in which any type of
information (speech, alphanumeric, visual, or other type) is transmitted by electric
signals propagated over wires or by radio signals. Depending on the means used to
transmit or carry the signals, it may be classified as wire or audio communication.

Telecommuting - also called telework, teleworking, working from home, mobile

work, remote work, and flexible workplace, is a work arrangement in which
employees do not commute or travel to a central place of work, such as an office
building, warehouse, or store.

Electronic mail – is defined as the transmission of messages over communications

networks. Typically the messages are notes entered from the keyboard or
electronic files stored on disk. Most mainframes, minicomputers, and computer
networks have an email system.

Internet – is a global computer network providing a variety of information and

communication facilities, consisting of interconnected networks using standardized
communication protocols it was also created in the 1960,s. The main advantage of
the internet is its ability to connect billions of computers and devices to each other.
Not only does the internet create convenience in sharing and receiving information
between users, another advantage of the internet is its ability for automation.
Some uses of the internet are;
1. Downloading files
2. Interactive games
3. Friendship and dating
4. Electronic newspapers and magazines
5. Research
World wide web -The world wide web(WWW), commonly known as the web, is
an information space where documents and other web resources are identified by
Uniform Resource Locators (URLs, such as https://www.exampl.com), which may
be interlinked by hypertext, and are accessible via the internet.
The function of the web, or world wide web (w3), is basically a system of internet
servers that support specially formatted documents. The documents are formatted
in a markup language called HTML (HyperTEXT Markup Language) that supports
links to each other documents, as well as graphics, audio and video files. The
internet and the world wide web are not the same.

Social Media – is computer-based technology that facilitates the sharing of idea,

thoughts, and information through the building of virtual networks and
communities. By design, social media is internet base user quick electronic
communication of content.
The different types of social media platforms to serve Ads are:
Social Networking (Facebook, Linkedln, Google+).
Microblogging (Twitter, Tumblr)
Photo sharing (Instagram, Snapchat, Pinterest).
Video sharing (YouTube, Facebook live, Periscope, Vimeo).

Facsimile – is a copy or reproduction of an old book, manuscript, art print, or other

items of historical value that is as true to the original source as possible.
Facsimile comes in two latin roots: facere, meaning “to make” meaning “like”.
Fax machines are also called so because the copy and transmit facsimiles of
documents, or faxes for short, over phone lines.

Multifunctional Devices – A multifunctional Device, or MFD, is typically the

printing device in most offices but is referred to as a printer or photocopier. These
machines incorporate scanning, copying and printing as a minimum, into a single
device some can also be used for mailing and faxing.
Some examples of multifunctional devices are:
1. A Hewlett-Packard photosmart C3180, featuring card readers and photo
printing. An example of an AIO.
2. A Konica Minolta bizhub 210. An Example of a freestanding SOHO MFP.
3. A Canon IR2270. An example of a mid-range office MFP.
4. A Konica Minolta bizhub 750. An example of a high end office black and white.
The Multifunctional Printer Difference. When employees have to work with
many different brands and kind of printers, fax machines, scanners, and copiers
around the office, the results is often frustration. A multifunctional printer does the
job of a printer, fax machine, scanner, and then some.
Factors to be considered in selecting communication media are:
1. There must be a degree of urgency
2. There must be a level of confidentiality in making a choice
3. You must look for the appropriate method
4. Take note of distance and location in your notation or selection.
5. Look at cost, internal and external use complexity of the material and the
importance of a written record.
6. In selecting look for equipment available, also good news or bad news as
a rule.
