Indigenous methods of resolving conflict

There are a lot of conflict that I witnessed in my life and some of them are always were happen
in my community , and as a meranaw, we are renowned for being “mapride” in maranao term
“maratabat’n” which common cause of conflict in the meranaw tribe, we can’t deny the fact
that there some advantage for being a “mapride” as a meranaw, but there also a lot of its
disadvantages. I observed that there are a lot of conflicts happening due to this attitude , just like
in every election, I always observe that there’s a lot of conflict due to this .

Like Some of our fellow meranaw are ready to kill, cutting ties to their family or relatives just to
satisfy their ego, creating dispute and they are also becoming selfish just to win, which I really
find toxic . like really? They are willing to kill someone (life that we are talking here) , in order
to get power and money , this is the saddest reality that we are facing right now. As far as I can
remember there are no peaceful election here in Mindanao . every election there are a lot of
conflict occurred specially when they can’t accept defeat , they are finding ways to create a
conflict .

And as a being meranao this kind of situation really broke my heart , can we atleast have a one
peaceful election? I am also ashamed when someone said (non maranao) said that “ why
meranao always like that “ “ are they really thirst of money and power ?” which I really found
annoying , it just that because of strong conflict that always happen here , they might have bad
thinking toward us and it puts me uncomfortable , we really put ourselves in a bad image which
is not true , it might be not all of us are doing this but for some , they are thinking us a whole. I
really hope in the next election we can have a nice and peaceful election .
