BC PETRO TAPE

G
‫ٻ‬
General
‫ٻ‬

BC Petro Tape is composed of synthetic fabric, filled with a petrolatum compound, inert
fillers and special anti-corrosion agents for the protection of pipes, valves, flanges,
couplings, pilings, and other steel structures. This product offers excellent protection
against corrosion and creates a solid water barrier. BC Petro Tape has good resistance to
acids, alkalis and salts.
Petrolatum is defined as "a purified mixture of semisolid hydrocarbons obtained from
petroleum, occurring as an unctuous mass." Petrolatum is a soft, viscous, moisturizing
material, which adheres comparatively well to rusty or slightly-moist steel. This material
has some moisture-displacing capabilities, and generally only requires cleaning be hand or
power-tool cleaning.
‫ٻ‬
Characteristics
‫ٻ‬

- Outstanding long term anticorrosive tape and applicable in such various places as open
air environments, underground & underwater.
- Great efficiency with easy application and short working times.
- No changes in quality under extremely low temperature. (-270ଇ)
- No cracking and hardening.
- Hygienically harmless and non-polluting.
- Environment-friendly design
- Can be applied to cold & wet surfaces.
- Encapsulates lead paints.
‫ٻ‬
Uses
‫ٻ‬

- Hydraulic pipes and cable lines on vessels.

- Fresh water pipes and CO2 pipes on vessels.
- Ordinary and special-purpose pipe lines.
- Steel pilings and marine structures.
- Underground pipes or cables.
- Drainage pipe / Building plumbing pipe.
- Valves and flanges.

INTRODUCTION OF BC PPRODUCTS
BC PETRO TAPE

Application for vessel’s pipeline

‫ٻ‬

SURFACE PREPARATION: Remove moisture, loosen rust, mill scale, old coating, and
dirt by rag and hand-tool cleaning. BC Petro Tape can be applied on wet surfaces.
However, applying on dry surface should be recommended for best results.

‫ٻ‬

PRIMING: Apply a thin layer of BC Petro Paste

to all surfaces by hand, using rubber gloves or by
brush with pressure to displace any moisture that
may be present. It wets the surface, displacing
moisture thereby enhancing the corrosion
protection.

BC Petro Paste doesn't require any drying time

before the application of BC Petro Tape. The film
Recommended for old pipelines thickness and coverage shall be at least 3 mil
‫ٻ‬ (76ജ) and approx. 0.3kg/m2.
‫ٻ‬

‫ٻ‬
‫ٻ‬
BC PETRO MASTIC: BC Petro Mastic is
solid mastic filler used to fill in and smooth
out the uneven surfaces.

It can also be used to fill in large voids in

areas commonly found in flanges, couplings,
u-bolts & etc. This filler is very conformable
and self-adhering and can be applied as
needed to allow a smooth & even surface
prior to application of BC Petro Tape.

G
‫ٻ‬
BC PETRO TAPE: Wrap spirally BC Petro ‫ٻ‬
‫ٻ‬
Tape around the surface or apply precut
‫ٻ‬
pieces to form over irregular surfaces. ‫ٻ‬
BC Petro Tape should be applied with 1" ‫ٻ‬
minimum overlap or with 50% overlap for ‫ٻ‬
‫ٻ‬
optimum results. On straight pipe, wrap with
‫ٻ‬
enough tension to obtain conformability to
‫ٻ‬
the surface. ‫ٻ‬
On irregular surfaces, allow less tension for ‫ٻ‬
‫ٻ‬
acquire conformability. The tape should be
‫ٻ‬
applied, pressing and molding the tape on
‫ٻ‬
the surface with conformability so that it ‫ٻ‬
does not bridge over irregular surface ‫ٻ‬
configurations or leave air pockets. ‫ٻ‬
‫ٻ‬
‫ٻ‬

Spirally rub the whole tape with the same

spiral direction, using rubber-gloved hands
to give its smooth appearance.‫ٻ‬
‫ٻ‬

‫ٻ‬
‫ٻ‬
‫ٻ‬
DO NOT leave the end of BC Petro Tape
upward when finishing Tape wrapping.

G
‫ٻ‬
This improper finished tape end can be
self-released due to gravity and this improper
finishing can weaken anti-corrosive activity of
BC Petro Tape.

‫ٻ‬
‫ٻ‬
Tape end should be downward at middle point
of pipe side surface.

PVC FIRM FILM or TAPE (optional):
PVC Firm Tape is for additional wrapping
material for good appearance and light
impact protection if desired.

‫ٻ‬
Softly apply one layer of spirally wrapping or
precut pieces as needed. 1/2” minimum
overlap is required.

‫ٻ‬

‫ٻ‬

DO NOT tighten PVC Tape strongly when

overwrapping.
Copper Wire/ PVC Bending is required to tie up
PVC Tape at intervals of 2~3mtr.‫ٻ‬

PRODUCT

1.1.2 Aluminum Anode

Hull, Ballas t or Sea water T ank Application
In saltwater environments where electrical resistivity is usually quite
low, aluminum anodes are the most economical choice for the
corrosion protection. These anodes offer higher current ef
and lower anode consumption than both magnesium and zinc in
aqueous saline areas, making aluminum ideal for the protection of
ship hulls on ocean going vessels, ballast tank and sea water tank.
PRODUCT

1.1.1 Magnesium Anode

There is great interest today concerning the quality of magnesium

anodes and is most commonly used onshore (in higher resistivity
electrolytes) where the use of zinc and aluminum would be
uneconomical.
