One of the Filipinos I know who made
a significant contribution to quantum
theory is Dr. Reinabelle Reyes.
One of Dr. Reinabelle Reyes notable
contributions was her work on the
bending of light. She has conducted
experiments and theoretical
investigations to understand how light
interacts with gravitational fields and
other cosmic phenomena.
Did you know class rainbow is one
example of the bending of light, well
you see when a light pass through a
prism, it bends the white light and
disperse the color and we can see the
visible spectrum, which is the color of
red, orange, yellow, green, blue indigo,
and violet.
10 Engage Today, we are going to proceed our Ppt

conduct an activity in a form of quiz,
where you will answer the questions
related to Quantum Theory.
I am going to divide you into three (3)
groups. Each group will select a
representative to compete for the
tournament of rock, paper, and scissors
to rank which group will answer first.
Whichever group scores the most
points will be the winner, and the
winning team will receive the reward.

Alright, lets comeback together as

class. We will now begin the
fascinating study of Quantum Theory.
Quantum Theory, which known as
Quantum Mechanics is a fundamental
theory in physics that describes the
behavior of matter and energy at the
smallest scales such as atoms and
subatomic particles. It has been
remarkably successful in explaining a
wide range of phenomena and has
revolutionized our understanding of
the physical world.
One of the fundamental concepts of
quantum theory is the idea of particle
duality. Which suggest that particles
could exhibit both particle-like and
wave-like behaviors at the same time.

20 Elaborate Now let us proceed to our proper Ppt

discussion, certainly! Quantum theory
mins is a fundamental theory in physics that
describes the behavior of particles at
the atomic and subatomic level. It has
implications for various fields
including medicine energy and
communication.

In the context of medicine Quantum

Theory plays a role in understanding
biological processes and developing
innovative medical technologies.
Quantum mechanics can help explain
the behavior of molecules and atoms
within our bodies providing insights
into cellular processes and the
functioning of biological systems. For
example, quantum effects are
important for understanding the
efficiency of photosynthesis in plants
and the mechanisms behind certain
biochemical reactions.

Furthermore, quantum technologies are

being explored for use in medical
imaging and diagnostics. Quantum
sensors such as atomic magnetometers
have the potential to offer more
sensitive and accurate measurements in
various medical applications including
brain imaging and cancer detection.
In the field of energy quantum theory
is relevant for understanding and
optimizing energy conversion
processes. Quantum mechanics helps
explain phenomena like electron
transport energy level transitions and
the behavior of photons. This
understanding is crucial for developing
more efficient and sustainable energy
sources such as photovoltaic cells and
quantum dots-based solar panels.

Quantum theory also has implications

for communication technologies.
Quantum communication specifically
quantum cryptography utilizes the
principles of quantum mechanics to
secure information transmission. By
encoding information in quantum
states instead of traditional bits
quantum cryptography offers enhanced
security and protection against
eavesdropping.

Ok! Class let us watch, to have more

understanding of how does Quantum
cryptography work.

Are you following class?

Yes! Sir.
Very! Good.
Now that we are done discussing the
key applications and their impact. We
will proceed now to the concept of
wave-particle duality.
Quantum theory introduced a radically
new understanding of nature proposing
that particles such as electrons and
photons exhibit both particle-like and
wave-like properties. This wave-
particle duality revolutionized our
understanding of the physical world
and had far-reaching implications
including the development of various
technologies that are now essential in
our daily lives.
Such as the Lasers. Lasers are devices
that produce intense and highly
focused beams of light. They are
commonly used in various applications
ranging from communication and data
storage to healthcare and
manufacturing. The principles behind
lasers are deeply rooted in quantum
theory.

The concept of wave-particle duality in

quantum theory. According to this
principle particles in the quantum
world such as electrons or photons can
exhibit both particle-like behavior and
wave-like behavior. This means that
they can act as discrete particles with
specific positions and momenta, but
they can also exhibit wave-like
characteristics such as interference and
diffraction patterns.

Can anyone give me an example of

experiments or phenomena that
demonstrate wave-like behavior of
particles?

Very good.
In this experiment a beam of particles
(The students will
such as electrons or photons is directed
toward a barrier with two narrow slits. share their answers)
Behind the barrier a screen is placed to (student 1)
capture the pattern formed by the
particles passing through the slits. Double-slit experiment
When only one slit is open the sir.
particles behave as expected and create
a pattern on the screen that
corresponds to the shape of the slit.
However, when both slits are open
something remarkable occurs.

This result implies that particles

exhibit wave-like behavior where they
interfere with themselves and create an
interference pattern like waves do.
This interference pattern can only be
explained if we consider particles as
waves of probability spreading out and
interfering with each other.

Rather than producing two separate

patterns corresponding to each slit the
particles create an interference pattern
similar to what is observed with
waves. This pattern consists of
alternating regions of bright and dark
bands on the screen.
The double-slit experiment shows that
particles possess both wave-like and
particle-like properties supporting the
concept of wave-particle duality in
quantum mechanics. It suggests that
particles can exist in multiple states
behaving like both waves and particles
until a measurement is made to
determine their properties.
Ok class, to have more understanding
in the double-slit experiment, we will
watch a short video.
By: Veratisium | The Original Double
Slit Experiment
Alright, after watching the video.
What is the double slit experiment?

(The students will raise

their hands and answer)
Who conducted the Youngs double-slit
experiment? The double slit
experiment is a famous
physics experiment that
demonstrate the wave-
Very, good. particle duality of light
and matter.
What is the purpose of double-slit
experiment?

Very, good.
Are there any clarification class, about
the wave-particle duality?
It was Thomas Youngs.

If none! Anyone who can generalized

our topic for today. The purpose of double-
slit experiment was to
uncover the wave-
particle duality.

None! Sir.

(The students will raise

their hand and
generalized the topic. )

5 Generalizatio To generalize our lesson on quantum

n theory. It refers to the exploration and
Mins development of theories that go
beyond the standard framework of
quantum mechanics aiming to provide
a more complete understanding of the
fundamental nature of reality.
