CCDC: SIMULATION BASED LEARNING

WRITTEN FEEDBACK

Engaging in simulation-based learning as a nursing facilitator has been an

incredibly enriching experience, also for the nurse learner. The realistic patient
scenarios and hands-on practice have significantly enhanced their confidence and
clinical skills. The controlled environment provided a safe space to make mistakes,
learn from them, and refine our approach to patient care. Through simulations,
we've developed not only critical thinking and decision-making abilities but also a
strong sense of teamwork and effective communication. The immediate feedback
from other instructors and nurse learners has been invaluable, enabling us to
reflect on our performance and continuously improve. Simulation-based learning
has effectively bridged the gap between theory and practice, preparing us and
especially to the nurse learner for the dynamic challenges and responsibilities of
real-world nursing with a heightened sense of readiness.

I found that the OB simulation is a valuable learning experience that can help
students to develop their skills in a practical and meaningful way. Specially to those
unexperienced on handling OB patients in the ward, through this simulation
students can have ideas to give effective patient centered care.

The simulation we've done is not that easy, and it was raw. Though this is not our
first exposure on DR, but then still we need to be careful, and show to the video on
what we see and know about OB/DR in a real-life situation. This simulation allows
us nursing students to practice our skills so that we can be reliable in a real-life
situation at all times.

-CHRISLEN PILAY, CCDC 3RD YEAR SN

The simulation activity was effective and interesting. I accept that I made a mistake
while recording but those mistakes motivated me to learn more. This simulation
activity helps me to improve my knowledge and develop my specific skills. The
simulation enabled us to demonstrate our clinical reasoning skills.

CCDC: SIMULATION BASED LEARNING

As for me who acted as Darla Yang. The OB simulation was kind of unusual for me
as a student nurse since I'm in a perspective of a pregnant patient. Although I have
been exposed in the DR, and seen how difficult it was for a mother to give birth I
couldn't really grasp the severity of pain that they are experiencing thus I couldn't
portray it so well. On the bright side, the feeling to be taken care of was so good. It
was something that I realized and want to let the patient that I'll handle someday
to feel. All in all, the DR simulation was a nice activity to apply what we have
learned and to acquire more knowledge. Also, to give us the whole picture of the
events and interventions that should be done in the Labor Room until the OB Ward.

-JANICE QUILOP, CCDC 3rd YEAR SN

As the videographer of the group, I observe while taking a video of my groupmates

is that the DR simulation was good because some of them know what they are
doing or the sequence in DR and some are not because some already had an
experience having a duty in DR. In this Simulation we gain more better
understanding, learnings, and we also correct our mistakes with the help of our CI.
