BBTLEDIA 3-1 Sir. Robin Mon Miranda Assignment #8 Part I. Part II. 1. Bleeder resistors are high-value resistors used in filter circuits to “bleed” or discharge the capacitor. It is used as a safety feature to discharge capacitors in a safe voltage level after power is removed because a charged capacitor although remove from power can still give shock to anybody. 2. Applications: a. Fixed-polarized capacitor’s main purpose is to filter power supplies (storage). When coupled together, fixed-polarized capacitors are used to prevent DC in amplifier stages. Although physically larger and lacking in high capacitance, a film or ceramic capacitor is an option. b. A non-polarized capacitor is one that has no implicit polarity and can be connected in either direction in a circuit. They are primarily used in coupling, decoupling, feedback, compensation, and oscillation circuits. c. The variable capacitor's primary function is to change and adjust the loop's resonance frequency. It is widely used in circuits such as tuning and amplification, frequency selective oscillation, and others. 3. If two components of an electronic circuit are in close proximity to one another, a capacitance effect known as parasitic or stray capacitance may occur between them. This is unavoidable and, in most cases, unwanted. It occurs when the electric field between parts with varying potential causes them to store an electric charge. The intended output of the circuit or device is altered by parasitic capacitance. In extended frequency response amplifier circuits, parasitic capacitance between the output and the input can act as a feedback path, causing the circuit to oscillate at high frequency. 4. Capacitive screens are constructed from multiple layers of glass and plastic that have been coated with a conductor material such as indium tin oxide or copper. When contacted by another electrical conductor, such as your bare finger, this conductive material responds. When you touch your screen, an electric circuit is completed at the point of contact, changing the electrical charge at that location. This information is recorded by your device as a "touch event." 5. Body capacitance refers to the physical property of the human body that allows it to function as a capacitor. A human body, like any other electrically conductive object, can store electric charge if properly insulated. The actual amount of capacitance varies depending on the environment; it would be low when standing on top of a pole with nothing nearby, but high when leaning against an insulated, but grounded large metal surface, such as a household refrigerator or a metal wall in a factory.
