PROCEDURE
Park the vehicle on a level ground.

Unscrew the wheel nuts and jack the vehicle

Apply wedges on the vehicle and remove the wheel from the tyre

Inflate the tyre with pressure using air compressor

Wet the body of the tyre and observe where bubbles come from.

Gas bubbles indicate a puncture on the tyre.

Park the vehicle and apply the stoppers on each road wheels to avoid the movement of the vehicle
to cause accidents

Locate the position of the OBD11 port under the steering wheel

Using the screw driver, remove the cover on the diagnosis port turn the ignition switch to on
position

Plug the DLC into the port and see the OBD results

Get the OBD codes (DTCS) and type in Google for knowing the meaning of the codes or results
of the OBD 11
After interpreting the codes, repair the required ports to be repaired
CHALLENGES FACED DURING THIS TASK
I faced a challenge of interpreting the codes of the OBD11 which made the activity difficult

I also faced a challenge of knowing the position of the operation of the OBD11
COCLUSION
I conclude by advising other mechanics to learn the working principle of the OBD11 because it
simplifies the work of diagnosing the vehicle

CHANGING OF THE TEMPERATURE SENSOR

TOOLS
Pier

Spanner (17, 19)

PROCEDURES

I Parked the vehicle on the leveled ground and apply stoppers on each road wheel

I Opened the bonnet and applied its lock

Locate the position of the temperature sensor which is around the outlet hose pipe near the
thermostat housing

Unplug the socket from the temperature sensor

Untighten and removed the temperature sensor

I got new one and installed it

I Started the engine to see whether the indicator lamp of the temperature in the dash board is off
after the engine has started

CHALLENGES
I faced a challenge of burn from hot water from the engine because I removed the it when the
engine was hot

I also faced a challenge of rude customer who brought the vehicle for repair

I also faced a challenge of language barrier with the customer

FIGURE 1.6

CONCLUSION
I conclude by advising fellow mechanics to avoid working on hot engines especially when the
vehicle has just parked.

TASK

Always use safety stands and wheel chocks to prevent accidental car movement.

Jack up the vehicle to access the car stator.

Locate the stator.

Remove the stator motor and bolts.

Compare the replacement stator motor to the old one.

Transfer heat shield.

Place the new stator.

Insert the stator mounting bolt.

Connect the wiring.

Reconnect the battery.

I faced a challenge of using new tools I found there.

CONCLUSION
I conclude by advising my fellow students to be careful when removing and installing stator motors for customers.
TASK: CHANGING BLOWN FUSE, RELAYS AND THE COMBINATION SWITCH
TOOLS USED
 Screw driver and star
 Spanners (10,12)

PROCEDURES FOLLOWED
 Park the vehicle on a leveled place
 Disconnect the battery terminals negative first and start working
 Unplug the sockets from the relay and combination switch
 Remove the blown fuse and replace it with a new one for proper functioning
 Replace the faulty combination switch and replace it with a new one
 Reconnect the battery cables on the terminals to see whether the problem is solved
 If the headlamps are giving out light and the combination switch Is working ten the problem is solved.

CHALLENGES FACED DURING THE TASK

 I faced a problem of knowing the operation and polarity of the relay
 I faced a challenge of installing back a relay due to lack of knowledge on relays

CONCLUSION
 I conclude by calling upon other mechanics to join this project because it is profitable

I also recommend by advising the mechanics to be careful when testing the polarity of
TASK

CHANGING DRIER IN A VEHICLE

PROCEDURES
Remove any components that block access to the receiver/drier.

Disconnect refrigerant lines to and from the receiver/drier.

Unbolt the unit from its mounting bracket.

Remove it from the engine compartment.

Insert the new receiver and secure in place.
