Executive Summary

Waste to Energy projects is to collect the municipal solid waste coming from residential,
institutional, commercial and industrial sources and other sources include illegal dumps, street
sweepings and etc.Nationwide, many landfills are closing or exhausting their remaining capacity, yet due
to environmental restrictions, zoning laws, and other regulatory and bureaucratic delays, pitifully few
new landfills are opening to offset the looming space crisis. Meanwhile municipal waste continues to
flow in greater volume. Handling the nation’s waste stream has become a major problem for most
municipalities. With more waste created daily, landfills nationwide are rapidly facing a capacity crisis.
Landfills are akin to owning a reverse gold mine.

INTRODUCTION

The problem of solid waste managy and the burden on landfills throughout the world is greatly
increasing.Waste to energy project is about converting the waste in Daet, Camarines Norte converting it
into energy like gas and electricity. the population in the Philippines is continuesly growing and because
of that there is also an increase of waste produce due to its population.

Moreover in the Philippines, there is only one existing plant in Payatas, Quezon that handle the
municipal waste and others used landfills to get rid of the waste. The province of Camarines Norte in the
city of Daet is one of the place that is using landfills to dispose the waste of the municipality. The
municipal waste of Daet goes to landfill in borabod but the burden of the landfills and it reachedthe
capacity to accept waste.

Waste to energy objectives is primarily to convert waste to energy and also covert landfills into
technology sites where we can put the machine in producing gas and electricity. The idea of replacing
dumsites into technological site for putting up the machines for the incineration of waste process. The
project problems in this part is where can we get machines that is fit to do the inciniration process and
converting waste into energy. We all know that there are company that will extend their help and willing
to partner and finance the projects but it has a return in the future the problems is how we can find a
company that has a great offer of service in a less expense. And how can we convert waste to energy if
the manpower didn't have idea or doesn't undergo trainings on how to operate the machines and
technologies.Also the Philippines traditionaly adopt using dumpsite rather than using technologies into
managing waste
The project goals is to convert waste into energy with the help of the machinery the projects can be
sustainable and attainable with the help and support of the government and other interested company.
And especially the LGU'S which handle the waste management of the province has a big role ang will
greatly help to achieve the goals.

OBJECTIVES

 Convert municipal waste into energy

 Transform landfills into sites where we can put the machinery / technology on converting waste
to energy.
 Apply the waste to energy technology to produce gas and electricity.
 Combat increasing rate of gas and electricity in the province of Camarines Norte specifically in
Daet.
