To see if it is possible to
clone cauliflower
PROBLEM
HYPOTHESIS
We hypothesize that
cauliflower explants will
grow better and faster with
the commercial agar when
being exposed to direct
sunlight.
VARIABLES
Controlled variable: the
cauliflower growing in a
normal environment
Independent variable:
commercial and homemade
agar.
MATERIALS
1 bottle of Alcohol (70%)
2 Beakers for waste solutions
Cauliflower head
Cauliflower florets cut into 10 mm
pieces from a fresh whole
cauliflower
agar
1 Cutting board
1 Knife
2 tweezers
1 Glass marking pencil
3 Paper towels rolls
3 Scalpels
Sterling in a glass jar with lid
Sterling solution in beaker
EXPERIMENTAL
PROCEDURE
1. Collect a small floret of cauliflower, and
place it on a cutting board.
2. Using a scalpel, cut the mini-floret into
pieces of approximately 3–5 mm3. These are
your explants.
3. Every 2–3 minutes, swirl the jar gently for 5
seconds. Repeat until 15 minutes have passed.
4. Place the forceps back into the beaker of
sterilizing solution.
5. Using a paper towel and a small amount of
70% alcohol, wipe down the cutting board.
Repeat these steps for the three trials.
TRIAL ONE
OBSERVATIONS
AND RESULTS

Washing materials
1. Started to mix the agar solution with water
and put it directly into the plates and leave it
in the fridge for 20 minutes
TRIAL TWO
OBSERVATIONS
AND RESULTS
12/30/22
1. We waited for a certain amount of time to see
the cauliflower. we could see that the plant grew
and it looked healthy.

CONCLUSION
In conclusion, our
homemade agar didn’t work
for us, but the commercial
agar did since it grew a little
but in the end, it died. We
still recommend trying this
project because maybe it
didn't work for us but
maybe it can work for you if
you use another type of
material.
APPLICATION
This project can be useful
for people who can't afford
commercial agar or if you
ran out of your commercial
agar and you need it
immediately you can do a
homemade agar because it's
very affordable and
efficient.
