"A good editor doesn't rewrite words,

they rewire synapses".
Teacher's column
Mrs. N. VIJAYA
We all know Einstein as the most influential scientist in Physics of
the 20th century. He was born in Germany. His “Theory of
Relativity” changed the way we understand the universe. He had
very high IQ.
Just like us, he was also a human being. He also had lot of struggles
in his life. He did not start speaking until he was 4 years old. He was
not an extra-ordinary student in school days. He had trouble
memorizing. He was not suited for the normal way of school
education. Even though he was good in Maths & Science, he scored
very low marks in other subjects. He dropped out of school at the
age of 15. He took an entrance exam for polytechnic. But he failed
in 2 subjects in the entrance exam. Finally, he started working as a
clerk in a patent office in Switzerland.
All these struggles did not stop him from achieving success later in
his life. At the age of 26, he published 5 major subject research
papers. For the first paper, he received Doctorate Degree. He won
Nobel Prize in 1921. His quote was, “If you have not failed, you have
not tried anything new”.
Another great scientist, Thomas Alva Edison failed 10,000 times in
the process of inventing the light bulb. When someone asked him
about this, he said,” I did not fail 10,000 times; I learnt 10,000 ways
the light bulb does not work.”.
If you want to keep a ship safe, you can keep it in the harbour. But
that is not the reason, we manufacture a ship. The purpose is to
take risk and carefully go on a voyage.
My dear readers, in summary, we may face failures & struggles every
now and then. Don’t feel Bad; Don’t feel Inferior; Don’t get mad;
Don’t give up. Keep working hard and you will succeed definitely.

At SSV, the air was filled with

excitement and creativity as
students came together to
celebrate a unique tradition
- Golu.
Celebrating Tradition with a Green Twist
Golu Dolls Display Crafted from Recycled Treasures

Harmonizing Hearts and Spirits

Students' Devotional Singing Amidst the Golu
Splendor 🎶

Golu, also known as Kolu or Bommai Golu,

is a vibrant and cultural display of handmade
dolls, usually during the festival of Navratri. This
time, the students decided to bring this tradition
to life right within the walls of their school.
Traditions of Navratri followed all
around
In southern parts of India, dolls made of
mud called “golu” are arranged on steps
for 9 days. Scrumptious Sundal is relished
throughout. It is celebrated to remember
the dolls made by Lord Shiva for his
consert Parvati when she felt lonely in the
ice-cold mountains of Himalayas.

In parts of West bengal and Odisha,

the Mother goddess is considered as
the daughter returning to their
village for a break from the
mountains of kailash, grand pandals
are arranged for the entertainment of
the goddess

Battukamma is celebrated during Navratri

in parts of Andhra and Telangana. The
origin of the festival was to console
Parvati (Bruhadamma) when the
Shivalinga was stolen from the temple.
Women of the community arranged flowers
into merus (pyramids) and worshipped the
goddess. The festival is often occumpanied
by dance and music
Science & Navaratri

Traditionally Navratri is celebrated four times a year. This set of festivals

always falls during seasonal changes. A fast is followed, which boosts
immunity to prevent viral diseases. During Navratri, we also experience small
or big adjustments in our sleep cycles since day and night duration varies. In
Bengal, where large statues of Maa Durga are made of river soil and are then
immersed into the river ,with herbs such as Vilva and Hibiscus increases the
medicinal quality of the water . Navratri also brings together relatives
together for this joyous celebration. The celebrations and traditions followed in
Navratri have deep psychological and physical impacts.
