SOUND
Sound occurs when an object vibrates. The
vibration is transmitted in the form of sound
waves that travel through different mediums,
such as air, water, or wood.

Music: When sound is used with the


intention of expressing emotions or
feelings

Noise: When sound has no


intention of expressing anything.

Silence is the absence of sound


or noise.

The ear is the organ that allows


us to perceive sound. Parts of
the ear: outer ear, middle ear,
and inner ear

Qualities of sound: Intensity,


pitch, duration, and timbre.

Intensity: Allows us to
distinguish between loud and
soft sounds.

Pitch: Allows us to distinguish


between high-pitched and low-
pitched sounds.

Duration: Allows us to
distinguish between long and
short sounds.

Timbre: Allows us to distinguish


between instruments.
