1. Yes, there were many positive changes brought by the magna carta law for women. The
Magna Carta of Women is comprehensive women’s human rights law that seeks to
eliminate discrimination against women by recognizing, protecting, fulfilling and
promoting the rights of Filipino women, especially those in marginalized sector. Below
are just some changes brought by the law and supported facts and evidence are hereby
attached.

Suffrage and Education

Before women gained the right to vote, they had no legal rights during that time
period. Even with the proper consent from their husbands, women still could not
obtain any legal rights. Governor General Dwight F. Davis made it legal for
women to have some legal rights when it came to disposition of property. This
allowed for women to own personal items within their marriage. The issue
concerning women's suffrage in the Philippines was settled in a
special plebiscite held on 30 April 1937. Ninety percent of voters were in favor of
the measure.

Equal pay

The pay gap between men and women remains strong throughout the
world, especially for women who are mothers or caretakers. Gender equality in
the workforce means being paid the same salary for equal work, regardless of
gender. It also means that if a woman takes time off from work to take maternity
leave, for example, she will not be punished when she returns to work. She will
still be considered for the same promotions, pay raises and career
opportunities that she would have been given had she not taken the necessary
time off to care for her family.
Reproductive autonomy

Reproductive autonomy is having the power to decide and control contraceptive

use, pregnancy, and childbearing. For example, people with reproductive
autonomy can control whether and when to become pregnant, whether and
when to use contraception, which method to use, and whether and when to
continue a pregnancy.
