Tools

In this chapter of the tutorials various aspects of the tools functions within CimatronE will be discussed.

Hole Attribute

Hole Attribute

The Hole Attributes feature enables adding special hole attributes to faces in the model. This data is important
for example in Drafting, when defining the Table of Holes or Label of Holes features, and in NC documents
when drilling procedures are performed.

Add Hole Attribute Ignore Holes


Open the file Hole Attributes Exercise.elt

Select the Holes Attributes tool from the Tools drop down menu.

The Hole Attributes feature guide is opened, and contains one required step – Select Faces.

Select the four faces as shown in the picture below, make sure the Ignore Hole attribute is set, and Click
OK.

Show/Hide Hole Attributes


To Show/Hide the Hole attributes figures, press the Show / Hide Hole Symbols button.

The Ignore Hole attribute is presented by the green color as shown in the picture.

Later, we will see how to change colors of the hole attributes through the Preferences.

Create Accurate Hole Attribute


Invoke the Hole Attribute tools. Note that the ignored holes are already marked.

Toggle the Ignore Hole option to Accurate Hole.

Select the ejectors’ holes as shown in the picture.(Select by box).

You may change the accuracy type by pressing the arrow as indicated in the picture below:

Accept the default standard accuracy H6.

Click OK.

Edit the Hole Attributes
Select the Hole Attribute option.

Note that the ignored holes are colored in green, the Accurate Hole type H6 is selected.

Select the two ejector holes as indicated by the arrows in the picture. (These two faces are now excluded
from the Accurate Hole H6 group.)

Change the Accurate type to H7.

Select the two ejectors you have previously unpicked.

Click OK.

Modify the Hole Attribute Color

It is possible to define any color for the Hole Attributes through the Preferences.

Open the Preferences, and select Modeling/Colors/Hole_Attributes.

Change the color as shown in the picture below:

Click OK.

Existing figures as well as new created figures are presented with the current color.

Save the file.

Create a TOH

We will now examine the attributes of the hole within the Drafting application.

Open a new Drafting document.

From the File menu, select New Document.

Select the Drawing option, and click OK.

Create a Top view of the Hole Attributes Exercise.elt.

Right-click the sheet feature from the tree. Select the View Creation option.

Select the Open CimatronE Document icon.

Select thedocument you have previously saved: Hole Attributes Exercise.elt. Press the Select tab.

Click in the upper left corner of the display area to place the top view.

Create a Table of Holes.

Select the top view you have previously created.

Click OK to approve the default Origin UCS.

Click to the right of the view to place the Table of Holes.

Close the Table of Holes dialog.

Examine the TOH

Examine the result.

Zoom in the table. Notice the Parameter Values column.

The Ignore Hole Attribute appears in the Parameter Values column, below all other values. It does not matter
to which face the Ignore Hole Attribute is attached.

Once the system recognizes the Ignore Hole attribute in a segment, the whole hole is recognized as a hole that
should be ignored.

Examine holes with the Accurate Hole attribute.

The accurate hole attribute is attached to a segment, and presented next to the relevant segment (diameter).
