T-s diagram of the ideal Rankine cycle is shown below:

Using the table A-6 at P= 3MPa and T= 300oC:

The specific enthalpy of the superheated steam at the inlet of the turbine
ℎ1=2994.3 kJ /kg

The specific entropy of the superheated steam at the inlet of the turbine
s1=6.5412 kJ /kg . K

For an indeal Rankine cycle, the expansion process is isentropic so the specific entropy
at the outlet of the turbine is s2 s =6.5412 kJ / kg . K

Using the table A-5 at P= 50kPa with s2 s =6.5412 kJ / kg . K

=>{ s g =7.5930 kJ /kg . K < s 2 s=6.5412 kJ /kg . K

s f =1.0912 kJ /kg . K < s2 s =6.5412 kJ /kg . K

Because of the expansion is isentropic, the steam will be saturated liquid-vapor at the
exit of turbine.

x is the quality of the saturated liquid-vapor mixture at state 2

s 2 s − sf 6.5412 −1.0912
x= = =0.8382
s fg 6.5019

Using the table A-5 at P= 50kPa => The specific enthapy at the exit for isentropic

 ℎ2 s =ℎf + x ×ℎ fg =340.54 + x × 2304.7=2272.3776

Using the table A-5 at P= 50kPa

The specific ethanlpy of the water at the condenser outlet ℎ3 =ℎf =340.54 kJ /kg
3
The specific volume of the water at the condenser outlet v 3=v f =0.001030 m /kg

Work done by the pump

W pump =v 3 × ( P1 − P 2 )=0.001030 × ( 3000 − 50 )=3.0385 kJ /kg

The pump work done also equal to

W pump =ℎ 4 −ℎ3=¿ ℎ4 =W p +ℎ3 =3.0385+340.54=343.5785 kJ /kg

a) The thermal efficency of the cycle

b) The net power output of the power plant

W net =W tur −W pump=m×|( ℎ1 − ℎ2 s ) − ( ℎ4 −ℎ 3 )|=35 ×|( 2994.3 −2272.3776 ) − (343.5785 − 350.54 )|=25160
