1. Explain the following words in 100-120 words :

a. Faith (Refer Chapter 1: ‘A Letter to God’)
b. Apartheid (Refer Chapter 2: ‘Nelson Mandela: A Long Walk to Freedom’)
c. Trust, Betrayal and Loyalty (Refer Suppl. Chapter 2 : ‘The Thief’s Story’)

2. Prepare 10 very short answer type questions with answers from each poem given below:
a. Dust of Snow b. Fire and Ice c. A Tiger in the Zoo

3. Define 10 Literary devices/Poetic devices along with possible images and citing examples from prose and poetry of the syllabus
(April and May)

4. Creation with Proverbs: Describe the following two proverbs in your own words. You may add pictures and cite examples to
make it more creative. a. The Pen is mightier than the sword. b. No Pain! No Gain!

5. Letter Writing: You are Tejas /Tejaswi, a student of class 10 residing in 11/B , Patel Nagar, New Delhi and want to take up a
summer course in Computer Graphic Design.
Write a letter of enquiry to the Director of NIIT Computech, New Delhi, seeking details of the course content, eligibility, fee
structure, timings and the future scope of the course.

6. Descriptive Writing: On 22nd February 2023, Our DTEA schools celebrated the inaugural ceremony of the centenary year with
pomp, gaiety and grandeur. Describe about your own experience as a DTEA student in this spectacular function in about 100
words.

7. Notice Writing: Water supply will be suspended for 8 hours 10 am to 6 pm on 30th May 2023 for cleaning of the water tank. Write
a Notice in about 50 words advising the residents to store water a day before. You are Karan, Secretary of your Society.

8.. Speech Writing: Write a speech in 100 to 150 words on the topic ‘Discipline shapes the future of a student’
Format: Introduction: Introduce yourself and introduce about the topic.
Content: Detailed presentation of the subject.
Conclusion: Summarize the main ideas of your speech with a good closing statement.

9. Advertisement Making: You have a Travel Agency and Tours Company called ‘All India Tours’ in Karol Bagh, New Delhi. Draft an
advertisement for summer tours to places within India.
The Advertisement should include the following details to make it informative and attractive:
a. Name of the Agency
b. Address with Contact information and Websites
c. Appealing images (visuals) of the service and idea
d. Good discounts and offer.

10. Poster Making: Design an attractive poster, portraying your thoughts and point of view on ‘Types of Cybercrime and Preventive
Measures ’ . Poster may include both Textual and Graphic elements.

Note:
 Do all your holidays’ homework in A4 sized sheets and compile them in one file. The file cover should be decorated
beautifully.
 Revise the concepts of all chapters covered during the months of April and May including Grammar portions.
 Watch and Read English News daily in order to equip yourself with the information and facts to be used in as content in
