Diversified

 Question: In 3 sentences or less, describe diversified technique to a lay person

 Read 1st paragraph, The Crystallization of Diversified Technique & Contemporary Diversified Technique

In lay terms, diversified technique is similar to the interpretation of diversification of people. There are over 8 billion people on the plant as of
2024 and it would be naïve to say that each and every person is completely different than one another. With that said, out of 8 billion people,
some may look very similar but are different in their own ways. This idea is the same for adjustments in the sense that there are thousands of
manipulations/techniques that may attack the same problem; however, each technique has a slight variation to accommodate for the slight
difference in each person that was mentioned above.

Activator

 Question: Describe 3 primary characteristics of Activator technique (use language appropriate for a patient)

 For primary characteristics, identify how you would describe each technique.
- First primary characteristic is that the chiropractor uses a small handheld device that is meant to simulate a manual adjustment.
- Second primary characteristic is the chiropractor can set the activator to different strengths and they apply several small thrusts to each
indicated segment.
- Third primary characteristic is the main purpose of this technique it to reset the alignment of the spine by putting displaced vertebrae
back into place.

1. what assessments do they use?

- Leg length assessment is used as well as isolated movements of different joints of the body.

2. what are the hallmark treatment methods?

The hall mark treatment methods are to work from a caudal to rostral direction of the patient and use isolated muscle tests in
conjunction with leg length to assess where to adjust a patient with the activator.

Gonstead

 Question: Describe 3 primary characteristics of Gonstead technique (use language appropriate for a patient)

- The first primary characteristic is the use of differential skin temperature meter to evaluate the spine and locate specific bones that are
out of place In the patient
- The second primary characteristic is that the Gonstead technique focuses on the disc which is found in between each spinal bone and
adjustments are mainly directed toward those discs
- The third primary characteristic is the use of tests in order to be extremely specific with which bone in the back is out of place. The
Gonstead technique preaches specificity and uses numerous chiropractic tables to deliver the most specific adjustments to patients

COX:

 Question: Describe 3 primary characteristics of Cox technique (use language appropriate for a patient)

- The first primary characteristic is this technique focuses on a combination of both manual force from the chiropractor and rhythmic
movements of the chiropractic table to treat the spine

- The second primary characteristic is the COX technique categorizes patients into one of two groups and based on this classification, a
specific treatment is delivered to the patient.
- The third primary characteristic is the chiropractor applies both flexion and distraction of each affected joint in the body in order to test
different levels of tension the patient may be feeling

Thompson:

 Question: Describe 3 primary characteristics of Thompson technique (use language appropriate for a patient)

- Chiropractor uses the assessmnet tool of checking leg lengths to better understand the orientation of the sacrum of the patient
- The treatment method is to use a drop piece and lightly apply a thrust to different joints of the body to correct leg lengths
- When the chiropractor check to ensure their adjustment works, they will lift the legs back up in the air to see if they are now the same
length.

ART

 Question: Describe 3 primary characteristics of ART technique (use language appropriate for a patient)

- The first primary characteristic is this technique relies on manual touch to pin a muscle down in shortened position and then stretch the
muscle
- The second primary characteristic is chiropractors rely on touching the muscles of the patient to identify where to apply pressure to the
affected muscle. When the chiropractor feels tension in a specific part of the muscle, they will apply their pressure there.
- Uses range of motion to indicate which muscle groups are in need of ART.
