01 Why
read ?
you
should

1 Reading is the best

way to learn a language.
It is a silent way of communication with
words, ideas, knowledge, etc.

By reading you acquire wisdom, spend

time effectively, broaden your
vocabulary, gain knowledge and so on….
When you develop this habit of reading,
you are infact developing your
connection with a friend who gives an
undisclosed promise of being with you
for a life-time.
There is no friend as
loyal as a book

02
2 Reading - a ladder to
learning a language

When you read you not only enjoy what

you read but you also inadvertently
grasp structures and usage of the
language.
You learn grammar and add on new
words even without making a deliberate
attempt.

Books are a uniquely

portable magic
Stephen King

3 Never force yourself
to read.

Read whatever you like. Read to enjoy

the content of what you are reading.

Never force yourself to read for the

purpose of learning the language.
Reading just for the sake of reading,
will not produce the desired result.
So choose appropriately.

Books were my pass

to personal freedom.

4 What should you
read?

Read anything that comes your way

( remember to filter the information
prudently)

Choose from comics, newspapers,

manuals, novels, magazines,
brochures , pamphlets,
Encyclopedias. … and everything
online.

A half-read book is a
half-finished love
affair.

5 Read and
reflect

We read what has been written.

Writing is scripting of one's thoughts.
Reading is a form of interaction with
the author. A major part of the thinking
is done by the author.

Therefore we need to think about what

we have read. Analysing, synthesizing
and organising what we have read is
essential. Simply accepting all that we
read is tomfoolery. When we reflect on
what we have read, we acquire wisdom.

Wear the old coat

and buy the new
book.

6 Read and
grow
We are fortunate to live in a
technological era in which everything
is at our fingertips. Our grandparents
did not enjoy the conveniences of the
internet, yet they were learned men
and women during their times as well.
Back then, the only source of
knowledge was books.

Yet they made the best of the

available books at their disposal.On
the contrary, we now have a plethora
of resources at our disposal - the
internet is overflowing with
abundance of resourses. Hence we
have no excuse to remain stagnant but
to hone our skills and expand our
capabilities.
Make use of the resources and grow
I guess there are
never enough books.
John Steinbeck
