NICKEL ANODES

1 SCOPE. These specificationscover the requirements
for four types of nickel anodesfor use in nickel plating solu-
tions. Two are primary (high nickel) products (one with
controlled sulfur); and two are processedproducts (one with
controlledoxygenand one with controlledcarbonand silicon).
2 CHEMICAL COMPOSITION. Shall conform to the
limits shown in Table 1 for the GM number of the product
specified.
3 DESKINNING. Deskinning of processed anodes
(GM1828M and GM1829M) is optional. When specified by
purchaser(by appropriatenote on purchaseorder or drawing),
deskinningshall be accomplishedelectrolyticallyusing hydro-
chloric acid as the skin removal agent, and shall uniformly
remove a minimum of 4% by weight of the nickel over the
entire length of the anode.
6.1 Completedcopiesof the GM Material Safety Data Sheet
and Critical Material Register(availablefrom the engineering
departmentor laboratory) must be submitted with any new
submissionsor wherea compositionchangehas occurred.
7 INSPECTION AND REJECTION. All shipmentsof
material or parts under contract or purchaseorder manufac-
tured to this specificationshall be equivalentin every respect
to the initial samplesapprovedby engineering.There shall be
no changesin either formulation or manufacturingprocesses
permittedwithout prior notification and approvalby engineer-
ing. Lack of notification by the supplier constitutesgrounds
for rejection of any shipment.While samplesmay be taken
from incoming shipmentsand checkedfor conformanceto this
specification, the supplier shall accept the responsibility for
incoming shipmentsmeetingthis specificationwithout depen-
denceupon purchaser’sinspection.

4 FORM AND SIZE. Shall be as specifiedby purchaser 8 APPROVEDSOURCES. Engineering qualification
