The objective of this graded project is to design and build a temperature control and energy monitoring
system for a small thermally isolated environment. This project will provide practical experience in
thermal management and energy monitoring, incorporating 12V DC or 220V AC operation.
Project Components:
-Thermally Isolated Environment: Construct a small thermally isolated enclosure using materials such
as cardboard, foam, or a plastic meal storage box. The enclosure should be designed to minimize heat
exchange with the external environment.
-Temperature Control: Implement a temperature control system to regulate the temperature inside
the enclosure. You can use any temperature sensor technique, such as thermistors or digital sensors,
to measure the temperature.
-Controller: Select an appropriate controller to manage the temperature control system. The controller
should accept user input for target temperature and operate heating elements accordingly.
- Heating Element: Choose a suitable heating element (e.g., resistive heaters) to raise the temperature
within the enclosure.
- Voltage and Current Sensing: Integrate current and voltage sensors to measure the power supply
parameters. This will enable the calculation of power and energy consumption.
- LCD Display: Use an LCD display to present real-time information, including the temperature inside
the enclosure, voltage, current, power, and energy consumption.
Project Requirements:
1. The system must allow users to set a target temperature within a specified range.
2. The system should maintain the temperature within a predefined tolerance of the target
temperature.
3. Accurately measure and display real-time values for voltage, current, power, and energy
consumption.
4. Implement safety measures to prevent overheating or electrical hazards.

Deliverables:
- A working prototype of the temperature control and energy monitoring system as shown in figure 1.
- Simulation on any electrical circuit simulation software.
- A comprehensive report on IEEE format.
Grading:
Grading will be based on the functionality, accuracy, and efficiency of the system, as well as the clarity
and completeness of the project report.
Submission Deadline:
This is a group project and it will be submitted in 14th week of the semester.
