Water

Water covers 70% of our planet, and it is easy to think that it will always be plentiful. but
it isnt fresh water, actually, Only 3% of the world’s water is fresh water, and two-thirds of
that is tucked away in frozen glaciers or otherwise unavailable for our use.

Many of the water systems that keep ecosystems thriving and feed a growing human
population have become stressed. Rivers, lakes and aquifers are drying up or becoming
too polluted to use. More than half the world’s wetlands have disappeared.

But what can we do as individuals in order to help avoid this whole problem?

First of all is to change education, because the most critical task is making sure the
problem is much better understood worldwide.

Globally, agriculture accounts for 70% of water resources, so it is essential to have

climate-friendly crops, efficient irrigation that reduces the need for water and energy

80% of plastic in our oceans is from land sources. In order to reduce the amount of
plastic entering our ocean, we need to both reduce our use of plastic globally, and to
improve plastic waste management.
