CT BRAIN WITH CONTRAST

CLINICAL INDICATION: C/O vertigo and 2 episodes of fall, associated with hypertensive emergency 1

TECHNIQUE: 2.0 mm reconstructed images from a scan performed on multi slice CT scan reviewed on
lin
workstation using different window and level settings. Pre and post-contrast CT scan brain is performed
according to departmental protocol.
FINDINGS:
On
A small hypodense area with internal CSF density is noted in right ganglionic region extending in
right external capsule -- likely suggestive of chronic infarct. No associated mass effect is noted.
Another small wedge-shaped hypodense area is noted in left cerebellar hemisphere, suggestive of
old infarct.
Small chronic lacunar infarcts are noted in left ganglionic region.
Mild confluent and few discrete hypodensities are noted in bilateral periventricular and deep
cerebral white matter.
There is no intracranial hemorrhage, edema, mass effect or midline shift.
Sulcal-gyral pattern is normal (for the age of patient).
Grey white matter differentiation is normal.
The ventricles are normal in size.
There is no extra axial fluid collection.
The sella and pineal region shows no significant abnormality.
On post contrast: There is no abnormal leptomeningeal or significant brain parenchymal enhancement. No
enhancing brain lesion seen.
There is no tonsillar herniation.
Craniovertebral junction is normal.
Deflected nasal septum is noted towards left side.
Mild mucosal thickening is noted in left maxillary sinus and bilateral ethmoidal air cells.
Bilateral orbits, rest of the para nasal sinuses and mastoid air cells are unremarkable.
Osseous structures do not show any significant abnormality.
