WHAT IS INDIAN CONSTITUTION ?

 The Constitution of India is the supreme law of India.

 The document lays down the framework that demarcates


fundamental political code, structure, procedures, powers, and
duties of government institutions and sets out fundamental
rights, directive principles, and the duties of citizens.

 The Constitution provides for a Parliamentary form of


government which is federal in structure with certain unitary
features.

 The constitutional head of the Executive of the Union is the


President.

WHAT IS PREAMBLE ?

 A preamble is an introductory statement in a document


that explains the document’s philosophy and
objectives.
 In a Constitution, it presents the intention of its
framers, the history behind its creation, and the core
values and principles of the nation.
 The Preamble is the main source of Indian constitution.
 The Preamble is basically statements of constitution's
object.
HISTORY OF PREAMBLE .

 The Preamble of the Constitution of India presents the


principles of the constitution and indicates the sources of its
authority.
 It was adopted on 26 November 1949 by the Constituent
Assembly .
 came into effect on 26 January 1950, celebrated as
the Republic day of India.
COMPONENTS OF PREAMBLE .
1) Supply of constitution: A preamble to the constitution indicates
that the supply of authority of the constitution lies with the folks
of that country.
2) Nature of the State: Preamble to the constitution states that the
country should be a socialist, sovereign, democratic republic,
and secular.
3) Statement of its objectives: The objectives given by the
preamble to the constitution are to push fraternity to keep up
unity and integrity of the state and to secure equality, justice,
and liberty to all or any of the voters of the state.
4) Date of its adoption: The date of adoption of the constitution is
mentioned within the preamble of the constitution.

 Sovereign: The term means that India has its own independent authority
and it is not a dominion of any other external power. In the country, the
legislature has the power to make laws which are subject to certain
limitations.
 Socialist: The term means the achievement of socialist ends through
democratic means. It holds faith in a mixed economy where both private
and public sectors co-exist side by side.
 Democratic: The term implies that the Constitution of India has an
established form of Constitution which gets its authority from the will of the
people expressed in an election.
 Republic: The term indicates that the head of the state is elected by the
people. In India, the President of India is the elected head of the state.
OBJECTIVES AND PURPOSE OF PREAMBLE
 The Preamble indicates that the validity behind the constitution is from the
people of the country itself. It reflects the Democratic, sovereign and secular
character of the country
 Indian Preamble nurtures the objectives set out within the scope of the
constitution. It sets out clear objectives and goals for all classes of people
who strive to achieve equal status
 Every civilisation has the right to worship their faith and beliefs, and The
preamble indicates that faith and beliefs invite a way to a more secular
environment in the country
 Equal social, economic and political justice: the preamble describes that a
country should inculcate a society devoid of discrimination of caste, colour
and creed
 Rights of the people- the Preamble defines the rights of the people as
providing them with the fundamental rights of justice, fraternity, liberty and
equality
