INT. ISABELLA'S HOUSE – DAY, 1941

A small house in a small village.

ISABELLA,a young village girl, fifteen years old. Focusing on her sitting alone on
a chair in silence. Suddenly there is a knock disturbing her. Isabella gets up and
opens the door.

Isabella comes face-to-face with her elder brother.

GIORNO, a young, skinny man with dull eyes. No expression visible on his face. He
stands there, gazing at the ground and his eyes not meeting Isabella's. Isabella is
visibly confused but slowly turns ecstatic, rendering her unable to discern her
brother's mood.

ISABELLA
Fratello!? H-how come? But I thought-

Giorno uttered zero words, pushes Isabella roughly aside. Walked into the house
with a sour expression. Isabella closes the door and hurriedly follows. Blocking
his way while smiling happily, contrasting Giorno’s mood.

ISABELLA

(In gleeful tone)

You know what? Who cares? We must celebrate your return home.

GIORNO
(Sighs)
Gods..shut up..

ISABELLA
What should we do? Oh, I know! I will make your favorite risotto and, and uh.. ah!
And then we will go shopping together!

Giorno still looking unamused and tired.

GIORNO
Shhh...There is nothing to celebrate. Maybe you shall only do so if I die.

Isabella's expression turns into a shocked one. Joyful mood replaced with
annoyance, similar to how your mother reacts when you say something bad.

ISABELLA
(Gasps loudly)
Why would you even say something of that sort? You must know how grateful I feel
when I saw you, alive and well!

Giorno replies with the same poker face.

GIORNO
Then, good for you. It is a shame that I do not feel the same.

His words hurts her and tears start to form on her eyes' corners. Isabella tries to
speak but Giorno beats her to it. Giorno's tone starts to rise slowly.

GIORNO
You and your hopeful eyes.°It DISGUSTS me, it SICKEN me to the core°. When first
Padre,

(PAUSE) (DEEP INHALE)

,and then Madre died, I felt a great dread. Greater compared to anything I had felt
before. Dread of realizing that responsibility to take care of you fell on me.

##Only the sentence in between two hollow dots must be spoken with a high, harsh
tone. The 'You and your hopeful eyes' part still spoken with a calmer tone, also
after the sentence in between two hollow dots. Tone arises to emphasize the
annoyance of Giorno directed to Isabella. Giorno is a rather, usually calm and
quiet person so it fits him more to speak in this way.##

##Isabella has a opposite personality. She is cheerful but easily angered, quite
sensitive, and cannot control her emotions too well. Causing her tone to be much
harsher and her words ruder (it usually comes out without her thinking).##

ISABELLA
(ANGERED)(HARSH TONE)
How is that my fault?
(INHALES)
What did I ever do? It is always like this. It is always those around you who
caused all your suffering. But in the end, dear Fratello, we all know it is all
just your thoughts. You hurt yourself all the time. Why is it that you get to live
when Padre died!? The least you can do in return is being grateful and live your
life to the fullest. But you simply do not. (EXHALES)

After saying those long sentences filled with long buried emotions, she ran out of
breath and is gasping for air. Her face turned red still with tears brimming.

Giorno's level of calmness decreases quite drastically, but still not totally
angered yet. It is visible. He can control his emotions better as an older brother.

GIORNO
(GRABS ISABELLA'S SHOULDERS)(LOOKING AT HER EYES)
What… What do you know about war… none of us ever survived, Bella.
(LOOKS TOWARDS THE FLOOR)
Maybe when Madre took her own life, she should have had stabbed you to death first.
So that when her only son comes back from hell, he can truly enjoy his remaining
days without a burden dragging him down.

ISABELLA
Why.. Aren’t you egoistic? If you died instead of Padre, three people could be
saved. Padre, me, and Madre. Unlike you, he provided for us, did his best. All you
know is fooling around, coming home late every day after doing who-knows-what.
(VOICE STARTS TO SHAKE)
And after all that, we still care about you, loved you! But in return, you despise
us!

Isabella’s words unknowingly snaps something deep inside Giorno. Triggering all the
terror and memory he felt in battlefield. Giorno can no longer refrain his emotions
and follows his impulse.

GIORNO
(ONE HAND DRIFTS TO SCALP AND GRAB HER HAIRS)(BODY AND VOICE SHAKING)
You... You... (GROWLS)

Giorno, with full power slams the back of his sister's head on the corner of the
table. Not just once. After several times and gaining clarity back, he stops and
drops her, face planting on the floor.

Giorno stands still. Looking at Isabella's red, holed skull with blood pooling
below. He slowly descent and kneels beside Isabella's unmoving body. One hand
approaching her shoulder.

GIORNO
B-Bella..? W-why are you so quiet…? Bella?

Giorno continues to shake his sister’s unmoving body a few times. Then he stopped
and just stares at the body without saying anything. Then he starts to murmur but
it’s volume slowly increases.

GIORNO
Shit…shit…shit….SHIT!

Giorno anxiously looks around the house, seemingly searching for a shovel.

** Giorno leaves Isabella there and grabs the shovel that he finally finds. He
starts to dig a hole in his backyard. He gets inside the house again and drags
Isabella by the feet towards the hole and throws her in. He closes the hole with
dirt, stares at his sister's graveyard, and sighs. He goes away and the rest is
history.
