First, joining Sussex University has spurred great interest in me in terms of community and social

development. The University of Sussex is a community of beautiful diversity and no doubt an extensive
alumni network. I wish to be at the forefront of advancing the University of Sussex – Alumni relationship
and furthering existing projects including fundraising.
Secondly, I am passionate and keen on getting exposed to the rich University of Sussex alumni network
for advice and career advancement in addition to being an additional wheel towards the wider University
of Sussex development programs that require fundraising and alumni donations.

In addition to the above, I possess rich experience in fundraising and donor engagement. In my previous
professional experience, I have taken an active role in fundraising for a company. For instance, as the
General Manager at Trustwave Seller Services Kenya Limited, I was tasked with leading the seed funding
exercise for the company targeting USD 200,000 in the first two quarters of 2022. My task involved
scheduled calls with investors, product presentations and expositions. By August 2022, Trustwave had
raised USD180,000 closing the initial seed round.
As the class representative to the Oriwo Boys High School Class of 2014, I was tasked with ensuring that
my class contributed a total of Kes. 1 Million towards the construction of the school library in 2021. As
the lead, my task involved calling each member of the 2014 class and setting up the contribution plans.
With an execution timeline of 8 months, the class of 2014 contributed a total of Kes 1.3 Million with a
78% contribution rate.
I have also actively participated in social welfare fundraising initiatives from 2021. In January 2022, the
Kenya School of Law in partnership with the Kenya Red Cross Society took part in the blood donation
and fund-drive Initiative towards the funding of the Kenyatta National Hospital’s blood bank. With the
help of other student leaders, my task was to sensitize the student body towards the fund collection and
blood donations. By its completion in May 2022, a total of 700 students had participated and we had
collected a total of Kes. 320,000.
I was the Moots Director in Moi University School of Law where mooting activities were not funded by
the school. In 2018, we raised a total of Kes. 4 Million to facilitate the school’s representation to the 2018
Price Media Moot Competition in South Africa and subsequently in Oxford University, United Kingdom.
As the Moots Director, my role involved writing of funding proposals and approaching the key
stakeholders including the County Government of Uasin Gishu. Out of the 16 Proposals presented to
different donors, 11 were successful and the mooting club was adequately funded through the year.
