➢ When words end in f, or fe and the e is silent, the f or fe is changed to ves


in plurals.
➢ Calf – knife – leaf – wife – thief
➢ calf/calves knife/knives
➢ leaf/leaves wife/wives.
➢thief/thieves
➢ When words end in a vowel and the suffix begins in a vowel, take the
vowel off the end of the word before adding the suffix.
➢ Fade –approve – hope
➢ fade/faded, approve/approval, hope/hoping.

A- Correct the eight errors made in the extract below.
➢ Everyone collected things for picnic in the forest: knifes, leaves-and even
some scarfs and gloves in case it got cold! Upon their arriveal ,they found the
ground covered in leafs. Everyone was enjoying themselves ,eating delicious
food and giveing food to the young calfs who walked by. Suddenly, theifs
jumped down from the cliffs…..
