The structure or the formula of the Expression of Intention

1. Will
‘Will’ is used to express a spontaneous intention made at the moment of speaking.
Normally ‘Will’ is used to show future facts or prediction.
Pattern:
(+) S + Will + V1
(-) S + will + not +V1
(?) Will + S + V1 + object/complement+?
Contoh (+) I will clean the room now.
(-) I will not clean the house now.
(?) Will I clean the room now?
Yes, I will/No, I will not
2. Be going to
We use “Be going to” to talk about future intentions or plans which are fairly certain.
This plan does not have to be for the near future. We also use “Be going to” when we
want to make prediction based on evidence we can see now.
Pattern : S + be + going to + infinitive
Example : I am tired. I am going to rest for a while .
(+) Sarah is going to visit Mount Rinjani next week.
(-) Sarah is not going to visit Mount Rinjani next week.
(?) Is Sarah going to visit Mount Rinjani next week?
Yes, She is/ No, She is not.
3. Would like to
“Would like to” is a polite way to say “I want“ in English. In this case, we are going to
discuss about (would like to). The use “Would like to” is to talk about ambitions , hopes,
or preferences.
Pattern:
S + Would like to + V1
Example:
(+) My uncle would like to stay in Jakarta next month.
(-) My uncle would not like to stay in Jakarta next month.
(?) Would My uncle like to stay in Jakarta next month?
Yes, he would./ No, he would not.
