Present Continues
Uses.

We use present continuous for 3 main reasons

-Things that are happening at the moments


- Things that are temporary (only at that time, not forever )
-things that are in a picture.

Past simple
We use past simple to talk about finished actions in the past.

Past habit
Past truth / Story

Form

Positive (+) S+V2+Obj.


Negative(-) S + Did+Not+ V1+ obj.
Question (?) Did + S+V1+obj?

Ex I went to SR last weekend.

She cooked me a breakfast this morning.

Past Continuous past kat continuous


Uses

We use Past Continuous to talk about something that was happening in the past
with specific time.

We use Past Continuous to talk about an on going or temporary action at a


specific moment in the past.

The past simple (describes the shorter and quicker


action) interrupts or cut the past continuous (describes a
longer, ‘background’ action or situation)
Ex I broke my leg when I was skiing.
When I was playing game, the doorbell rang.
The doorbell rang when I was playing game.

Present Perfect
We use present perfect for 3 main reasons:
-To talk about something in the past without telling the time.
- To Talk about past experience
- To talk about an action that has just happened
We often use present perfect with yet just and already

Positive S+ have/has +V3+Obj.


Negative S + have +has +not + v3 + Obj
Question Have / has + s + V3+ obj?

ex

I have watched the Avengers.


She has not done her homework.
Have bob and Paul Travelled by plan?
Where has he been?
I have been to Japan.

Be going to (prediction)
We also use “be going to” to talk about a
future that we think might happen, but it is
not a plan because it is not something that we
can control or plan.

Will / Won’t
We can use “will” to talk about the future. We also use will to make predictions, talk about
decisions, and to make promises, offers, requests and threats

 I‘ll send you an e-mail.


 I won’t tell anyone your secret.
 He‘ll pay you back tomorrow.
 We won’t forget your birthday
