Group Project – E-Commerce web\mobile idea

Purpose
This assignment is mandatory in this course and is designed to serve students in developing
professional skills via applying and evaluating e-commerce concepts, tools, and techniques in
practical situations; prioritize activities, resources, and needs; forecast events and needs of a
given industry; present points succinctly and finally prepare to participate in a constructive
discussion. Assignment as such, would necessitate generating a novel e-commerce idea, learn
and apply fundamentals of building an ecommerce presence and implementing the e-
commerce website using one of the available web design tools such as WIX.com

Objective

This assignment covers the following Course Learning Outcome:


K (1.1): Identify e-commerce’s challenges and opportunities to organisations,
consumers, and society
S (2.1): Analyse e-Commerce platforms with reference to its security, payment,
customer oriented, and revenue model.
S (2.4): Justify the use of various web development/wireframe tools and software as a
service (SaaS) for building e-Commerce/m-Commerce platform.

Deliverables

This is a group assignment; each team will consist of three students. You are expected to deliver
the following:

Ø Completed e-commerce website


Ø Project report discussing the website business model
Ø Project presentation

1. E- Commerce Website
Teams should design and build a website using one of the web design template websites such
as Wix.com. The website should reflect the business model that the students are proposing. It
should at least include:

• Home page
• List of products/services offered by the website
• Checkout/cart page if applicable
• Link to a Social Media accounts
2. Project Report

A. Teams are expected to turn in a complete business plan report 12 pages, double-spaced.
The proposed business plan should include the following:

• Value proposition: what’s the main broad idea behind your website concept.
• Business and Revenue Model: Determine your products and services and how the
business will generate or make money.
• Market opportunities: Determine the characteristics of the industry and how similar
products/services have done in the market.
• Competition: Determine competitors, the difference between your products and services
and those offered by your competitors and assess your competitive advantage.
• Marketing: Determine your target audience, design your marketing plan, identify the
ways you will use to attract visitors to your site and determine what are the different
methods you’d use to promote your products/services.
• Management team: Identify what kinds of background/business experiences are
necessary in your business, determine your management team and their duties and
suggest what types of organizational structures are necessary for your business

B. Teams are also expected to run of the social networks platforms for a while to gather users
usage data. Based on that data, teams should analyse and recommend future plans for their
projects.

C. Overall all your report should include an executive summary, introduction, and conclusion.

3. Project Presentation

At the end of the semester, you will present the project’s business model along with the
completed website in a 15-minute presentation. You can also include the challenges that you
may have faced in this project or any unexpected results.

Submission
● Project Due date is 30 November 2023
● Project Submission should be in a Pdf format and Word format
● Upload the Project Report Document to the Blackboard system
● A hard copy of the report should be submitted on the class
● PowerPoint slides for the presentation should be submitted through Blackboard
● Beware that your teacher uses matching software to detect plagiarism.

Grading
This project is a teamwork assignment worth 30% of total marks for this course.

Presentation
Each team is required to present the project’s findings to the class. The intent is that you will
provide an overview of your report with an emphasis on the key issues.
The presentation should take the form of a traditional presentation where students introduce

Penalties

• Only submission of an online copy through the Blackboard will be accepted,

• There will be zero tolerance for dishonourable or unethical conduct. If a student is
charged with Academic Dishonesty, a zero (0) grade will be given for the assignment.
• The students that do not participate with their team will not receive the project
grade.
• The project grade will be posted for those completed and submitted their forms.
• Any delay in delivering your project report results in deducting at least 10% of
your grade.
